Why do you have to make every thread controversial?
I'm just deferring to a superior intellect. I wanted to come correct so folks wouldn't get the wrong idea. Once I learned the meaning of the word it seemed foolish to use anything else.

This morning some jerk placed tiny American Flags all over my front yard.

I enjoy my Father's take on Veteran's Day, "If you have served in the military, you do appreciate the 'atta boy', but most of us don't want to remember or even be reminded about anything about serving during a war. We'd rather have an excuse to celebrate patriotism...and Veteran's Day needs more firecrackers".

My Grandfather was the same way.

Me: "Hey Grandpa, just called to say happy Veteran's Day!"

Him: Nothing happy about it other than not being in battle.

Not saying all vets are as salty. Some obviously want the 'atta boy' and plaster veteran! bumper stickers on their car, but there is a LOT of "quiet" resentment from those who "served" directed at those who never saw battle.

Anyway. Good on all who served. Whether your job was to fill tires with air all day, or manned a tank, you are all signed up for the greater good. Or you were drafted and didn't have a choice.
