Re: Capcom Won't Make a Sequel For Less than 2M Sales
You say many people are bashing them because they are disappointed they aren't making new installments in their legacy series's. I understand that, I mean they are a business and it only makes sense to spend money on new games that are going to return the maximum profit, not keep making games in series's with limited sales potential (see Megaman). My big problem with them is that those games they end up making SUCK, so honestly there's no point in them trying.

It doesn't seem like an unreasonable thing to me. The original game is nearly 20 years old, the Gamecube remake about 12, and outside of PSOne Classics, offhand, the most recent port is the Wii one from 2009.Damm64 wrote:FTFYFragems wrote:Still can't believe we are getting a remastering of the remake of resident evil you can only milk the same cow so many times.
For as many people that played the original version(s), there are probably quite a few people out there that don't have the game easily available to them. Resident Evil 4, sure, there are plenty of options there...but not for the first one.
It's a flagship property, and a classic game. It only makes sense that they'd want to keep a version on the market. In turn, it likely makes sense to go back to the one with higher detail assets already.

As a kid I remember thinking that Capcom and Konami were the two best third-party developers. My how times have changed...

I consider it kind of a remake since they are adding the option for over the shoulder camera and RE4 controls. Plus they are redoing a lot of the assets.Damm64 wrote:FTFYFragems wrote:Still can't believe we are getting a remastering of the remake of resident evil you can only milk the same cow so many times.
I just wish they would give some special treatment to other games in the series. It's about time the RE2 & RE3 get their long overdo remakes/HD upgrades. At least according to the rumors there is a remake of RE2 due out next year but that most likely is BS
I'm still holding out hope that the Outbreak series gets a remake or new entry I want some more Resident Evil cooperative survival horror goodness. Was hoping that ORC would at least live up to it a bit but it is most likely the worst RE game I have ever played in pretty much every way possible
Re: Capcom Won't Make a Sequel For Less than 2M Sales
I kind of wonder if this is in fact real, if this impacts their willingness of digital rental download games since they don't have the physical costs behind those, or if they do it but at much lower dollar/total sold value. They did give out 2 Bionic Commando digital remakes, then Strider most recently too.
It does make a total sense of why they screwed so many people with that MM Legend 3 project on the 3DS despite engaging people, having them help make robots and more to pull the rug out, and we see what that caused internally and externally. Capcom is so afraid of this era, and I think it's because they have no idea how to run a proper business with it like they did in the 2D era on console and arcade where they were just rocking it. Them and Konami have been suffering and I think neither were or are well equipped to deal with the transition as they've never done as well as I think they should have. They both ride one or two franchises like a whore to the end and hope it gets all the dough they need which is idiotic.
This also frames well with those numbnuts at Square, they're potentially worse. They sell 4M copies of Tomb Raider and it's not a financial success?!?! How many years and restarts on the 'crystal engine' cosing them how many million in losses? Bad business all around.

Whelp, Capcom. Welcome to the club. Not sure what the club's name is but I hope you enjoy your time with fellow club members Square, Konami, and Sega. You guys can hoist drinks to remember the good old days and wonder aloud why things changed and where it went wrong.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Was going to post saying "hey wait a minute...Squeenix is still good" but then I remembered FFXIII and I remembered why they belong on the list(still holding out hope that they don't screw up KHIII)Flake wrote:Whelp, Capcom. I don't understand why you put Sega in that club. Other than their really bad Sonic games, they've released a lot of quality games over the past gen (Yakuza series, Valkyria Chronicles series, Sonic Sega Racing series, not to mention all the games they've published from platinum and their stuff on PC)Flake wrote:Whelp, Capcom. I think Sega gets the nod for all the smart repeated moves of the 90s. Though it is in the wrong era for how bad they did things, yet in the earlier 00s they really did at times ignorantly put the wrong game on the wrong platform but they were also financially screwed.
