PLEASE HELP! SOUND problems with sega saturn

yo if you guys are making custom dvd covers for saturn games, get at me. i would love to hear/see ideas, designs, tips for making my own, etc. i have a ton of games burnt and i'm about to go get a bunch of clear dvd cases but i need some guidance on how to make my covers. word. thanks dudes.

so when i move my rf plug around sometimes the sound gets louder....i think its the plug...im gonna buy an av cable and tell you guys how it is....

Sorry to necrobump, but I was having this exact problem with the Model 1 Saturn and RF cable I bought last week: almost inaudible audio, sometimes kicks in for a moment when I fiddle with the jack.

I say I was having the same problem because I just got an AV cable, and now the exact nature of the problem is clearer. One audio channel seems perfect, but the other one is almost inaudible except when I'm in the middle of pushing the AV cable in. As soon as the pressure lets up, the audio in that channel drops back to almost (but not quite) nothing. So I'm guessing that maybe the RF cable uses that one, bad channel? (If not then I'm not sure what's happening.)

Any ideas? Is it a bad solder joint inside the Saturn, or something similar? And if so, is it an easy fix? I can just play my games in mono, since my amp has an option to send one channel to both speakers, but...

BTW is there any sane reason that the Saturn doesn't use the same AV pinout as the Model 2 Genesis and 32X, or was it just pure unadulterated greed/foolishness on Sega's part?

Could be crud in the socket for just that one pin, or as you say, it could be a busted solder joint. If you have some contact cleaner, unhook everything, spray some in the jack, then un/replug the cable several times, then let it dry for a while. Else I'd open up and look if you need to resolder. Failing all that, if it is say the right side, you might very carefully tweak the right audio pin just a little so it catches the plug a little differently.
