Re: Cards Against Humanity
Holiday set from 2012 and 2013 are available directly from them at $10 a piece. I think all proceeds from those packs go to charity. If the eBay prices we're dissuading you maybe that'll help in getting some holiday fun in your play set.
As a bonus they have $5 set of cards dedicated to the 90s.

Re: Cards Against Humanity
My girlfriend has a large set. She now hates the game because everyone is asking her to play it and she feels they're using her for the game.
So I guess that says good things about how much fun it is? Maybe?

The game is about as messed up as you are, but for the most part avoids "Offensive for the sake of shock value" cards. The creators have no tolerance for shit like rape jokes, etc., and actually removed a card that they realized was super transphobic.Betagam7 wrote:I've just been looking this up and it looks like a fun party game...however my only concern is that one of the reviews on amazon states it is "racially offensive".
Can anyone illuminate on this as it's the only thing putting me off right now.
Also, I see there is a UK edition "specially adapted for your outmoded culture". Is this likely to contain a lot of stuff that would go over the heads of American players, as I'd probably be playing with Americans.

I... was unaware of that. For $25, I'll buy those 3 sets for sure. Last I checked, it was inflated ebay prices only and wasn't worth it, but yeah the holiday sets at 10 bucks each, plus a $5 90's card set is totally worth it. Thanks!casterofdreams wrote:Holiday set from 2012 and 2013 are available directly from them at $10 a piece. I think all proceeds from those packs go to charity. Yeah that will then put me to "complete" (for officially-released cards in the US)
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!

Re: Cards Against Humanity
I played this at a party a few weeks ago, good fun and some of the combinations are downright hilarious. The game is actually banned in this nanny-state of a country though, so we were playing an English version. For the most part it was okay, but there were a few things that flew over our heads that we had to Google.

Wow I'm sorry to hear. Yeah its fun but not to the point of using a friend like that.YoshiEgg25 wrote:My girlfriend has a large set. She now hates the game because everyone is asking her to play it and she feels they're using her for the game.

So yesterday I ran into a third party expansion set called Crabs Adjust Humidity. So I think the license for the official game allows such expansions to exists. We should get a Racketboy themed one going

Re: Cards Against Humanity
My old~ish copy of CAH has the "passable transvestite" and "date rape" cards. Until I read your post, I didn't even know these cards had been removed. In fact, I didn't even know the word "transvestite" is no longer PC. Now I can't sing along with the Rocky Horror Picture Show anymore.AmishSamurai wrote:The game is about as messed up as you are, but for the most part avoids "Offensive for the sake of shock value" cards. Now, I'm not going to pretend I know what it's like to walk a mile in your shoes, Amish. I believe you have to face a lot of prejudice. All I'm saying is that the game is supposed to be offensive, right? For instance, My family is mixed black and white, but I don't get offended by the racist jokes. My ex-wife is Jewish, but she doesn't get offended by the Jew jokes, or Nazi jokes. My best friend is an orphan, but he doesn't get offended by the orphan jokes. Another of my friends was molested at a young age, but she doesn't get offended by the pedophile jokes. It's literally "A party game for horrible people." You knew that before you opened the box.
I admit I don't know what it's like to live transgendered, so I'm going to quote the trans person who originally burned the "passable transvestite" card. This is from a followup post.
As a final note, I want to say that I have no hatred in my heart for the LGBTQ community; I just find censorship more distasteful than any of the words that get censored. When I first posted this, I did not realize that it was problematic. I was fine to say “I can’t find this specific card funny, it is too close to being about me, I wanted it out of my game and since I like fire I decided to burn it.” I did not comprehend that I was essentially saying “Well I personally have never experienced racism, so it doesn’t really matter to me and I can still laugh at it, and it’s okay because I’m not racist.” And I see now that that is what I was doing. I was only looking at the issues which affected me personally, and I was allowing myself to find everything else funny because I wasn’t the person to whom it’s directed. I truly regret making this post, not because I’ve gotten a bit of shit for it but because I am appalled at myself that I didn’t see what I was doing.

Looooove this game. Such a blast. And I hope for there to be a MST3K-themed subset someday, with cards like "Beer on the sun" and "Joe Don Baker's sharply pungent musk"

I want to get the "Daniel Radcliffe's Delicious Asshole" card signed by him.
