I replace them as I can. Get a game I don't want to keep that has a good case, swap out cases with one of the flimsy ones. Its slow going, but I'm getting there. I used not to care, until I dropped a case one day and broke a disk. :|

I hate them, but stuck with a few. The only advantage is discovering an inside print to the case cover; but then how do you protect it exposed inside that dumb ecco case.

Even pressing the center of the disc holder, the ecco case back flexes as you try to remove a disc, the holder jaws still grab tight risking cracking the inner ring of the disc.

I take a jewelers file to the disc holders on any case that grabs too tight, especially ALL the ecco cases.

They're annoying, but if it's a hard to find game, I'm not really too upset. They don't bother me too much, but if I see the case, and the game is cheap, I'd probably get that and replace it.

I found this site recently (thanks to isiolia)

http://shop.bresoftware.com/Xbox-360-Or ... p_128.html
http://shop.bresoftware.com/Nintendo-Wi ... p_112.html

I will probably be ordering some cases from these folks (And manuals). Wii and 360 have discounts for bulk orders (the bulk 360 bundle they sell is WAY more expensive than their bulk price, It's only cheaper if you buy more than one bundle)

Anymore I just use paper sleeves to store my discs in when I put them in the case less risk of spindle damage/wear and tear on the case :P. Had one disc to many get scratched up during shipping so I decided to try the sleeves out and it has worked well so far so I started using them on my own collection.

You can get like 1000 sleeves for $20 shipped to your door so it's a pretty cheap investment.

So you scratch them by sliding the surface across rough paper as opposed to popping them on a spindle that only touches the middle, not the data areas? Paper sleeves are fine for driver discs and PC games that get installed and then are put away, but not so much for console games where you're sliding them in and out all the time. It's ok for shipping thinner packages too, presuming the person on the other end will put it in a case.

When shipping a disc game in the case, put a piece of bubble wrap or paper towel or something over the spindle so it is cushioned in case it gets tossed around in transit to make sure it doesn't pop off and scrape.

Further explanation.

Shipping: When shipping there are two things that I worry about which were still a problem even when I added cushioning to keep the stuff on the spindle.
1. The discs could still spin on the spindle sometimes resulting in a few light scratches.
2. Spindle damage during shipping it always scared me that a careless USPS worker might squash my package possibly causing stress cracks to the disc. There was also the fact that a few cases such as some of the older Xbox ones had really tight spindles which could really jack a disc up when getting it on and off if you weren't careful. So i didn't want the people I was selling/trading with to jack the disc up by accident the first time they got it out of the case :P.

I really stole this idea from game stop after I had a two returns for games damaged during shipping. They always shipped their games in a sleeve inside the case and it just seemed to make sense after I started experiencing these problems.

Personal Use: When playing a game I usually leave it in the console till I finish it then it goes right back into the case. If it were something like like Halo that I play a lot of MP on I might leave it on the spindle but I really don't do that to often. So the majority of my stuff goes in and out of the case maybe one time a year :P, and a few oddball favorites maybe get taken out 3 times a year max. The majority of my collection is still sleeve free but I have been adding sleeves to each game as I finish them.

So far I have never really noticed the sleeves I have bought to cause any damage to any of my discs I make sure my games are dust/grime free before they go in the sleeves and I am careful not to rub them against the paper which is actually pretty soft. Actually just tested out a game I had sitting here(defective disc) to see if rubbing the paper against it hard would really do any damage and if there is any scratching it's not really visible so I don't really see these things damaging my discs any time soon :P.
