Re: Project Beast hype thread
If Sony wants to sell more PS4's it only makes sense to make it exclusive to the system.

I recommend watching this video for reasons why Atlus probably won't be publishing this game, assuming it is a Souls game.flex wood wrote:That just depends on if From sticks with Bamco or not. Honestly I just want them to go back to Atlus and get as far as possible from Bamco but that's because I blame Bamco for all the stuff I disliked about both dark souls games.Retrogamer0001 wrote:Time will tell, but I'm still putting my money on a multi-gen release.
That being said, the game does look fantastic, and I did the get the nerd shivers watching it.

An affordable price + a robust library of games.flex wood wrote: Edit: bone I'm curious, besides a new why's game, what would get you to buy one of the new systems? Floppy disks?

Re: Project Beast hype thread
Guys, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's seriously very likely that the game will be PS4 exclusive. As pointed out in the video I linked, all of the leaks (both the screenshots and the gameplay footage) were accompanied by text such as "Sony Japan Studios" and "Sony Playstation 4."
Just speaking logically here, but if the screenshots and gameplay are real then why wouldn't the accompanying text?
Also somebody pointed out that it would be a "bad business decision" to make it PS4 exclusive, but... why? If it's exclusive then that means Sony is paying them possibly millions upfront, and Sony would obviously be willing to do so for a brand as strong as the Souls series. Many people like myself, the man who made that video, and some other people in this thread are already sure they would buy a PS4 for an exclusive Souls game. Sony knows this, has expressed interest in the past in continuing with their Demon's Souls IP (Which they own, not FromSoft), and need something big to push PS4's into consumers hands.
Now for my personal opinion, I actually think that PS4 exclusive (Or at the very least next-gen exclusive) sounds like the best course of action. Maybe not for everyone, since there will of course be people who can't afford a PS4 and I don't blame them, but for the over all quality of the game it certainly would. Games that are cross generation (Look at the recent Call of Duty: Ghosts) don't tend to fare as well. The split development time, extra cost, and stretched out staff tend to cause problems for the final build of each version of the game. Meaning more glitches, shaky framerates, possibly cut content, and many months of patches following the release.
And sure, the Souls games have never been about graphics, but the better hardware would certainly help with stronger framerates instead of a repeat Blighttown situation. Many people, myself included, did not find the Dark Souls 2 framerate to be up to snuff at all times either. And if the better PS4 hardware can mean we get the cool lighting effects we were promised for Dark Souls 2, as well as similar little graphical touches, then that can greatly enhance the over all atmosphere. Which the Souls games are definitely about.

Re: Project Beast hype thread
I think it's a bad decision as far as selling copies of the actual game goes. Sales of the PS4 console will undoubtedly increase as a result of exclusivity, though by how much would just be speculation. There's a massive difference between selling Dark Souls II on the PS3/360 (installed sales base of over 150 million combined console sales) and selling it as an exclusive on the PS4 (7 million console sales) - factor in the cost of the system for all these people who are supposedly going to buy one just to play this game and the costs ring up to over $500 (console, game, taxes). Based on this, how many consoles will realistically be sold by Sony for people that just want to play this game? If I were publishing/developing this game, I would want it on every platform that could support it, which the PS3 (with over 80 million units sold) certainly can.

Why do you really care about the sales? I mean, I don't think there's anything to worry about. Souls is huge at this point, they're gonna profit now matter what I'm sure. And if From are just From, they probably just want to make a quality game first. Devs > Publishers.
So yes, imagine how polished and refined a Souls game only on the PS4 could be.
Anyways, it goes without saying, but if the "Demon's" name somehow slips, that seals the deal with Sony owning the name, that'll definitely be exclusive then.
Easily. To sum this up instantly, we can compare Infamous Second Son to Watch Dogs. There isn't even a single thing to debate here in terms of which is a greater leap forward in every area, and that's because Sucker Punch had the enjoyment of developing something for a single, one and only platform. In technical terms, this is the greatest way to go for any developer I'm sure. I can only imagine how much time and testing ends up being wasted on some cross platform AND gen games out there nowadays. Build a game and engine based around one piece of hardware... or one that has to work on ~4-6. You tell me what sounds better.MrEco wrote:Now for my personal opinion, I actually think that PS4 exclusive (Or at the very least next-gen exclusive) sounds like the best course of action. Re: Project Beast hype thread
My suspicion is that it's a new Souls game, but it's neither going to be under the Demon's nor the Dark moniker. The massive jump forward in terms of the technology of the world (handheld firearms) makes me think this will be a new Souls series.

I'd rather see a 2D Castlevania 1999 game, myself.Xeogred wrote:Please don't tickle me.MrPopo wrote:Wild speculation here: From has secretly teamed up with Konami to make a Castlevania game.

Not sure how many people would buy a PS4 just to play this.Retrogamer0001 wrote:factor in the cost of the system for all these people who are supposedly going to buy one just to play this game and the costs ring up to over $500 (console, game, taxes). It's more like people who got caught up in the hype and bought a PS4 at launch will finally have something to play.
