Strange question:

If I were to hunt up a Sega Mouse (JPN or PAL) and plug it into my NTSC CDX, would the US Sega CD version of the game be compatible? Alternately, could I burn the PAL ISO if I could find one, and play that with the mouse on my CDX? http://segaretro.org/Sega_Mouse

attempted to start the DOS version. First enemy in the first dungeon wiped out my party cuz I have no idea how to attack. The manual is 40 pages long, and I'm having trouble finding the "basics." It says I need to bring up the attack menu... though I can't seem to figure out how to do that.

It's from a simpler era when people read the entire manual cover to cover before they tried to play the game. That's not just me being snarky; they hadn't figured out good UI design in those days so many times you had to jump through hoops to do what you want. And the in-game tutorial wasn't a thing.

oh yeah, I get that - and appreciate it. I mean, I played a lot of DOS games in the late 80's, early 90's. Though most of those were simpler, and could use a joystick. It's been a while since I've had to sit down and read for a half hour before playing a game.

In the SNES version I believe you press B with your cursor over your character's weapon icons to attack. A will pick up and drop the weapons. Gotta make sure your back-row guys have ranged weapons or spells.

So, did anyone actually get a chance to start this today? I'm looking at starting up later this week, but I want to clear a bit more of John Romero's Daikatana up.

Oy ... did you feel like you need to make up for something in a past life?

It's part of my Summer Challenge. I've beaten it on the N64 and played through most of it in co-op on PC but wnated to make a go at it and judge for myself what makes it bad.

I don't think this sequence of words has ever been uttered before.
