That is a really good point. Then my question is, how do they achieve HDMI out of his adapter?

New Product: Analogue NT Discussion Thread

Hobie-wan wrote:There are surely less of these MVS boards floating around (some supposedly sitting unloved warehouses) than Famicoms. These chips aren't the rare ones in the Nintendo arcade system. Saying the MVS conversions are fine, but using blemished Famicoms isn't seems hypocritical to me.

This is a professionally done mod job. Are people going to be up in arms for anyone else doing a mod on piss yellow Famicoms or say a SNES? How dare people paint them! What about people 'butchering' arcades by putting the wrong board in old dedicated cabs, cutting up control panels, or making mame cabinets?

But hey, you know what, this is a BST thread and there shouldn't be any threadcrapping.

Make a thread elsewhere if you need to voice your opinion.

New thread made.

I wouldn't suggest the original thread should be in our BST if that's the point being made seeing as sales are done on an external website - but moving the discussion out of the BST is fine.

Overstock MVS motherboards are exactly that - they are overstock pieces of equipment. They were produced in significantly higher numbers than Neo Geo cabinets. PPU's and CPU's were never overstocked and sitting in warehouses awaiting being put to use. That is the difference. As it stands, I don't know exact numbers, but i'd guess they are at a ratio of greater than 10 to 1 available motherboards to available original cabinets. If this difference isn't clear then it's an agree to disagree impasse.

Tops, Fujita, HKLegend, G-Front, YHJ, all have dozens (hundreds?) of NOS motherboards that have no feasible use unless they are consolized or plugged into superguns. These Famicoms are working units. If you don't think people are upset - again, I can't help you, unless you want links to where people are quite a bit more upset than I. I'm simply not going to buy one. Others are a bit more outraged than that.

I think opinion on the pricepoint of the NES / Famicom controllers is a valid one as well.

this is, by far, the most offensive thing about this console. it is very sexy, but i don't understand why charging $50 for a NOS controller is even remotely acceptable for a rational human with a functioning brain.

I did shell out $200 for a wooden Neo Geo stick to match my CMVS ( yes I have one and love it) but charging $30 for a refurbished NES controller(according to his FAQ he takes them apart and cleans them, is that worth $25?) but he can't include one when your already paying $500 for the console? Sure I could understand $30-50 if he made a really fancy aluminium controller to match the console. And you have to buy the cables extra? I mean who is buying this thing for $500 and just using composite or s-video??? it should come with an RGB cable imo.

Because he figures people will pay $50 for it. Either he's right and makes money, or he's wrong and drops the price.

Why is it that charging more than you think is acceptable to pay for something such an affront?

Because it is hyped on our forums but priced for people clearly out of the loop.

We don't have to be personally offended to think (and post) that it's outrageous. I think it's sometimes good to point out when things are in fact overpriced so that those out of the know don't overpay. Lord knows I wish i'd had known what some things cost when I bought them.

There is a difference in complaining, "Why is Demon's Crest $90? That's overpriced! Boo hoo!" ... And what is going on here. Saying Demon's Crest is overpriced is not reality - it consistently sells for $90 on the free market. A NES controller sells for $5 on the forums and $10 on ebay. $30 is overpriced and there is nothing inaccurate in stating so; nor am I offended.

If I posted I was going to go buy a N64 at the local gameshop for $90 i'd hope someone would say, "Hold up son, you can get them for $30 all day, here's how."

Well Aaron did say it was or was approaching being offensive, so I think that is where Popo is coming from.

I believe the $500 tag for the system is probably justified for the niche release and the labor + materials.

That being said, it is a crazy price for the consumer considering what it will accomplish. I believe it is one of those situations where the device being cost effective for both buyer and seller to just barely overlap. Price then goes up as he wont be mass producing these.

Another question I'm wondering about is what will happen to Chris's AI CMVSs? He is already extremely backed up on making those and orders can take up to 6 months to fulfill. Now making these NES consoles how will he manage to make both? Has the stock of MV-1C boards dried up and he plans to stop producing CMVSs? Or has he gotten more help making them? Is he outsourcing? Is this why Viletim has been out of stock of RGB PPUs for a month now preventing me from getting my toploader modded? :(

this thing is really beautiful. something i would almost consider buying even at that price. though i think they should have went the extra mile and included a slot for the FDS, so that you can play disks w/o the addon, with parts that are much more sturdy. and geez the HDMI should have been included too at that price.
