Fallout 4 May Be Revealed Next Month
Re: Fallout 4 May Be Revealed Next Month
New Vegas didn't have the same pull factor that Fallout 3 did. Fallout 3 pulled me into the story and plight of the protagonist. New Vegas just seemed bleh....

Re: Fallout 4 May Be Revealed Next Month
I really enjoyit both on their own merits, NV did a better job with the factions and the decisions in the game, i like/dislike the fact that if you don't have a 75 speech level you can come back and try it later. I loved the destroyed city in fallout 3 also the custom weapons you make, shame that are only like 5 of those.
NV did some things better than 3 and viceversa but a new game in the middle of boht will be great.

First of OMFG PLEASE LET THIS BE REAL!!!!!!!!!!!
Secondly I like both FO3 and NV. Now both have the pros and cons. For me..
FO3
Pros: First Fallout game I ever played. Better then earlier Fallouts since I hate turn based games. Had a story that really moved me since I don't really have a great relationship with my own father, I felt more connected to James then my own dad. Enclave is freaking awesome. Colonel Autumn...yes. I can mod the hell out of it to make it into my own version.
Cons: The sickly green filter everywhere, playing this game with that going on litteraly makes me sick after a few hours. The story did have some pretty big flaws. Has less mods for it then NV. Seems really unpolished after you play FNV.
NV
Pros: Gay and lesbian characters! You can be gay or lesbian too! One word...VEGAS. Great DLC. Lots of really quality mods. I can play this for hours and hours and not feel sick.
Cons: Story was crap, why should I care about anyone? The factions needed better stories since I literally didn't give a shit about anyone but the BoS and the Followers. Casino's need just a little more...quality to them, I mean they should be nicer then everywhere else right? WHY CAN'T I ROB THE CASINO'S FFS?!?! Skyrim gets a freaking marrage system, why couldn't you shove that into NV?! I want to marry Arcade damn it! Not thrilled with the radio stations. And not a great backstory involving the Enclave and Arcade.

Re: Fallout 4 May Be Revealed Next Month
I bought and beat Fallout 3 and the more I think about that fact, the more I regret it.
Fallout 3 was yet another game focused on combat in which combat was dull and uninteresting. And enemy appeared in front of you and you walked backwards shooting until it died. No skill, no strategy ,no thought involved just backtracking and pressing Q so you don't spend too many bullets.

Gotta be honest here, I've heard that exact complaint before. And every time I hear it I can't help thinking the person must have not played very far into the game at all.General_Norris wrote:I bought and beat Fallout 3 and the more I think about that fact, the more I regret it.

I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.

I beat it. Nothing changes through the game, every single enemy can be defeated by pressing S while shooting at it. It's particularly noticiable once you reach Washington because those mutants take ages to kill.MrEco wrote:Gotta be honest here, I've heard that exact complaint before. ...and there I just used VATS and blew the back of their skulls out. Same as I (effectively) would have in Fallout 1 or 2. It was annoying I couldn't use a sniper rifle from what most would consider sniper rifle range, but it still generally worked.General_Norris wrote: I beat it. I'd say more that they're just not games to play for the combat. It's not as atrocious as Elder Scrolls, but a finely tuned FPS engine it is not.
Re: Fallout 4 May Be Revealed Next Month
I barely use vats anymore, it slows the combat and make's it more easy and boring. I just use it on melee combat because is REALLY bad.
A good way to change things up is by going on a stealthy playthrought.

New Vegas really fixed a ton of the aiming issues. It feels much more FPS-like. But then there's my complaint about how many hits it takes to down someone...
No, New Vegas is as much RPG as FPS, and when you bring guns into the mix is does create a style that not everyone is going to mesh well with.

Re: Fallout 4 May Be Revealed Next Month
I still use VATS because I don't play the game to kill stuff, so I don't want to waste time on fighting, when I could be off doing something much better...like side quests lol.
I mean I know I don't really count since I never finished FO3 or NV but I love side quests a lot more then the Main Quest or fighting. They have more story and get you closer to people...like how you have to help those two star crossed lovers in NV. It was kinda sweet...or how you had to help that girl get that boy to fall in love with her using that ant stuff in FO3. It's just the little things that make me love these games.
But if we had to go by just fighting...NV is better because of the aiming issue. Though I do miss blowing up cars next to a camp of Raiders....man that is fun.
