I'm a bit lost, I think. The OP says, "Bidding" on shirts. Wouldn't they just be available at a set price and the money over the cost goes directly to the charity?

Well the charity auction is... an auction, so, people will be bidding on these shirts.

100% of the money will go to the charity. I will be paying for these shirts with my own money (and whatever other people chip in) and donating them to the auction. You vote here in this thread so that I can get a feel for the demand.

We're gonna need more than 3 people wanting shirts. I know the poll has not even been running for 24 hours yet, but this slow start is scaring me. I figure we need at least 2 or 3 people per size otherwise it wont be worth it. If only one person bids on a unique size, then there's no money to be raised. :?

Just looking at things with my marketing hat on. The benefit of added "Participant" or "Donator" is that people will be more likely to ask you about the auction if you are labeled/branded.

I'm not ribbing you at any extent and in no way mean to be rude, it's that "Racketboy charity auction" reminds me of when Dwight Shrute threw a birthday party. Give the t-shirt a call to action that gets more people involved, I say.
What if the shirt just had the Racketboy logo on it, no year and no "charity auction" text. Just a Racketboy fan T-Shirt. Perhaps that would actually make more people want it.

i think that's a better idea.

also maybe limited quantity, winners specify size after the fact? that way it's a truly "custom" item and something worth driving up bids for (bragging rights that you "got the shirt" or whatever).

Yeah, I predicted this when t-shirts were first bought up. I think selling ten t-shirts would be a reasonable goal.

Again, I'm only trying to help.

Just having the logo isn't a bad idea, but I still wouldn't purchase one.

If I had the keys to the car, first I would set a reserve price on each t-shirt. The "Every item starts at $1.00" idea needs to go. People who donate already know that they're likely to spend much more money on shipping than the items they donate.

Secondly, I wouldn't be as concerned about shirt size as much as I would be about shirt design. T-shirts are a dime a dozen, so make one that stands out. For example, you could compile the signatures of the participants, throw that on the back of the shirt, and have the RacketBoy logo on the front. Or you can take an iconic game cover and give it a RacketBoy theme.

Yup, it is gone as of this year.

Feel free to keep me in the loop.

And sure, this should go in the official charity auction thread, but for now I'll post this here:

If anyone wants to combine a lot (dish, noise, I'm looking especially at you two) it would be a blast to put together one big a$$ box of games and accessories.
