Well...INTV carts are only slightly larger than GB carts, and if you only collected "cart only" copies of the games; then you could probably fit every game you want into a shoebox...o.pwuaioc wrote:Yeah, that's what I've been trying to avoid. See, now we're talking! However, I'm concerned by the mixed messages you're giving. You keep saying "INTV", but your post count is clearly betraying your true feelings.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Well...INTV carts are only slightly larger than GB carts, and if you only collected "cart only" copies of the games; then you could probably fit every game you want into a shoebox...o.pwuaioc wrote:Yeah, that's what I've been trying to avoid. Awesome. 2600 is the best post count. (Sorry, 5200 and 7800...) I almost hate ruining it with this, my 2601 post.o.pwuaioc wrote:See, now we're talking! However, I'm concerned by the mixed messages you're giving. You keep saying "INTV", but your post count is clearly betraying your true feelings.
(It also does reflect my true feelings...to a certain extent. In addition to my 2600 collection, I also have a prize collection of complete Arcadia 2001 games. Accordingly, my true feelings were laid bare 600 posts ago.)

Re: Consoles: 25 Game Strong
Out of all the systems I own, I would say the Virtual Boy is the only one with <25 decent games. Hell, are there even 25 total VB games? The 3DO most definitely has a great library. Intellivision is a great pick too.
@o.pwuaioc
Are you seriously considering picking up an Amiga CD32?
Great system, but you will have a tough time finding games. They're nearly impossible to find in the wild and they aren't cheap online - good luck finding any game that's under $25. I've actually only purchased one sports title since I picked up the system, but I have played many other games in the past and via emulation. I also assume that many games are similar to their Amiga computer counterparts.
As you may know the console was only released in Europe, Australia, Canada, and Brazil. There seems to be some disagreement online about whether or not NTSC games exist. Some sites list NTSC games, but everything on GameFAQs is listed as PAL. I have a theory that "NTSC" titles may have just been PAL games that were sold in Canada. Whatever the case, the system is region-free.
I really would like to build my ACD32 collection someday - I'll probably bite the bullet and place a big order from a British retro gaming website. Here are some games I consider worthwhile:

Re: Consoles: 25 Game Strong
Has any one ever seen a CDTV game in the wild? Any one who actually owns one? It's such a mythical system, yet it has like 35-45 games released on it if I recall correctly.
Here's some games to add to that list Bone:
Simon the Sorceror
Wing Commander
Super Stardust
D/Generation
Fire and Ice
Syndicate
Risky woods
The Chaos Engine
Alien Breed 1&2
Star Crusader
I cant remember which one, but either Morph or Naughty Ones was a decent puzzle game
There's also Lunar C&Over Kill but that's a really uninspired SHMUP. There's quite a lot of cookie cutter platformers on the system, like Quik the Thunder Rabbit, Oscar and James Pond 2.
The problem with the CD32 is that most games are direct ports from floppy disk games and don't utilize the power of the CD based machine. Simon the Sorceror has voice acting and there are some games with prerendered semi-realistic graphics and 3D (though like with 3DO, quite a lot of it is kinda boring), but the system is pretty much just wasted potential.

Re: Consoles: 25 Game Strong
Yeah the CDTV was essentially Commodore's version of the CD-I as far as I can tell. A "multimedia machine." I have never laid eyes upon one. I did happen to find a UK site with a few games in stock. Interesting enough, there are also games for the Commodore PET. Who knew...
Agreed - though I find CD games to be much more reliable and durable than floppies so the CD32 has that going for it...Menegrothx wrote: The problem with the CD32 is that most games are direct ports from floppy disk games and don't utilize the power of the CD based machine. Here's a list of CDTV games. Some of the FMV games look intresting (judging by 1 screenshot
)
Prey: An Alien Encounter, Prehistorik&Psycho Killer. Looks like most games are actual video games and not just CDi/LaserActive style edutainment
CD32 is backwards compatible with CDTV games IIRC so that's something to keep in mind

Gaah I hate it when posts start listing top games. Everyone has their favorites making it pointless.o.pwuaioc wrote:Because 25 is the perfect number.dsheinem wrote:why not 24? 20? 10? 25 seems a bit arbitrary...
I think you might be missing out on discovering a unique game for a given system if you require that 25 number.
