Excuse the photobombs, since i can't figure it out and nothing seems out of place , maybe posting the pictures will allow someone else to catch a detail i missed

2 shots of the DIN end of the scart cable
1 shot of the scart end
2 shots, 1 of each genesis at the AV port, both are mangled in the same fashion for some reason but work fine with composite?

Red seems to be showing up on the ebay cable according to those pics, which rules out it being a problem with the Genesis cable I think.

Both valid points:

the ebay cable doesn't have a sync issue, which is interesting. I ordered the sync stripper version from RGC because I figured i'd just buy the more expensive cable first instead of having an issue and having to buy it in the end. The issue with the ebay cable is kind of as if there is no white being displayed. When i play the first level of Xmen 2 where there is snow, it shows up as a really dark color.

i agree its a red issue, but it would have to be in the BNC breakout cable , since the ebay one does show red, albeit muted

damn , the iphone 5 camera is fairly impressive with how much detail it can capture.... you can prob steal my fingerprint from those pics

with all this reasoning it leads me to still think it's the breakout cable, but the solder points seem fine.

I shot an email to RGC to see what he thought. I'd hoped to avoid sending it back to the UK though. Thanks again for your attention guys.

Glad you got it working. Genesis is especially crisp in RGB, it's definitely one of the more impressive systems to look at through it.

I'm betting that those AV out ports were just dirty. They both looked pretty bad. Plugging and unplugging things might have loosened the dirt. Or it could be a loose wire somewhere. Either way, glad it is working!
