Yeah, Ps2 only demands sync-on-green when running in 480p.

Some monitors can actually give you a workable signal without a sync signal, which might be what's actually going on here.

I did something related to that about 3 weeks ago.

Set PS2 to 480p with a SCART cable connected, then used an RGB to component box and XRGB mini.

I would not expect the PS1 to put out a 480p signal. Why...?

Anyway. I was able to find a service manual for the SPCH-7500 model.

It mentions outputs named "R," "G," "B," "Y," "Video," and "C"

"C" could refer to composite sync, but I'm pretty sure it's for "chrominance" in this case. For S-Video.

If the PS1 outputs RGB, the only good options for sync are sync-on-green and dirty composite video sync.

Sync on green is not defined by SCART standards. Few TVs would've been made expecting it.

Well I am using an RGB SCART to YUV transcoder anyway, so I guess that's that then.
N64/NES/FC/SNES/SFC/GB (SGB)/GBC (Black)(SGB)/FDS/Satellaview/Genesis/Mega Drive/Master System & maybe N64DD/GBC/GBA.
