Re: Anyone here collecting an entire system?
I'm about 60 games shy of a full licensed NES set. Been at it for years now and I've gotten the rarest and most expensive games out of the way years ago (Stadium Events, Flintstones Surprise at Dinosaur Peak, Little Samson, Bubble Bobble 2, Power Blade 2, Zombie Nation, Panic Restaurant, etc.). There are still about half a dozen games I need that are $50+, but for the most part I have it pretty easy. Just a matter of time now.
Also going for a CIB Virtual Boy set. I'm right in the middle, but I've already got a CIB Jack Bros and CIB Waterworld so the remainder isn't too bad.
After I'm done with both of those I'll probably put some effort into the TG-16 and the N64. The NES set has been fun, but its taken a very long time because of the size of the library. I don't think the TG-16 or N64 will be quite as frustrating.

If you have money nothing would be frustrating per se, but on TG-16, Magical Chase, Legend of Hero Tonma, and Bonk 3 say hello.

I was attempting to collect all NA Saturn games a couple years back but I just got tired of collecting a bunch of crappy games lol so i sold all the games I thought were garbage and only keep the ones I enjoy. Only need two more to complete my personal Saturn collection.
Met a friend of a friend who had an almost complete NA NES collection. Took up a wall in her basement. It was one of the coolest things I have seen. Very impressive.

Re: Anyone here collecting an entire system?
I have no desire to collect for an entire system. I'd end up with a bunch of crap I would never play.
The only way I could see myself doing it is if the game library was incredibly small - like the Casio Loopy.
I just bought a Didj - maybe I should go for a complete Didj set. There are 15 games.
I do collect by series though. I'd like to get all of the North Ameircan Ys games for instance (except for maybe the DOS and Apple II versions of Ys I - way too rare).

When its only a very small handful of games that'll be tricky/expensive to find I don't have a problem with that. Its when its dozens of them that I get scared off.
And if I had the money I'd love to be picking up tons of games for my Neo Geo AES

Re: Anyone here collecting an entire system?
Id say the only reason I dont just go after one companys games, or one franchise is that most of the franchise's I really like would be over too fast for an obsessive collector like myself (Mario/Sonic/Megaman) And I dont really have any certain company that I like most of there games. Im very wishy washy.
The point of collecting whole systems for me is Im collecting something I like, Its going to take time (Keeps me busy) and sometimes those games I thought were crappy, I'll try them out since I already bought them, and it turns out I actually like them. In my case sometimes I gotta play the real deal (not on an emu) to realize how much I like a game.

Re: Anyone here collecting an entire system?
I probably am not far from owning most US released RPGs. There would be a few on very obscure systems I dont have like the 3DO. There also those that are debatable as RPGs. But if I really wanted, I have most of the pricier titles.
I was close to owning all the Working Designs releases, but that Exile Wicked Phenomenon is very tough to find.
At one point I was going to collect all 64 games, but gave up on that as I realized I only like a dozen or so 64 games haha.

Re: Anyone here collecting an entire system?
Late to the party
I'm trying to collect every single game for:
NES
SNES
N64
Sega Genesis
Dreamcast
Playstation 1 and 2
Gameboy (original, color and advance)
Game Gear
Now will I get them? No...lol. Realisticly I do want to get all the N64 games, Game Gear games and original Gameboy games. I have a lot of Game Gear and Gameboy games so I think I might be able to do it. And the N64 seemed to have a smaller library then most other consoles.

Wow. I assume you mean consoles only (so not counting the PC, Apple II, C64, Amiga, Atari ST, TRS-80, Tandy Color, etc)...
You do realize there are on RPGs on systems like the Intellivision and Amiga CD32, right?
