The Master System can be modified for S-Video, just like the Genesis. All Master Systems use the CXA1145, the same video encoder used in the model 1 Genesis and earlier model 2 Genesis revisions.

Did not know that!

Well there you go OP.

Just dont count on getting one of those HDMI NES's this year. Bunnyboy only has a limited number and they will sell out on day one. I am ready to give him his asking cost right now.

Do you know what his asking cost is? I haven't been keeping up with any updated info. I'd definitely get one (eventually) as long as they're not too expensive. My NES is down with my CRT, and I don't have one with my HDTV. I'd probably start using a second NES tho if that HDMI adapter isn't too expensive.

Also, I've found two other (separate) NES RGB projects. One of them was on NesDev, the guy was using an FPGA to poll the PPU, IIRC and I also don't really know what I'm even talking about. And there was another similar project I found some where, but I forget where. So, I'm not putting all my eggs in the Retro Zone basket. HDMI would be cool, but I'd like some other analog RGB solution that I can (easily) get S-Video from for my CRT.

Yeah, and since there's a couple of different circuits on the net for getting S-Video from the (CXA1145) Genesis, I'd like to point out that this one is probably the best. I've tried them all, and that one got me the best picture.

No one that I have been able to reach is willing to talk money. I am prepared to pay up to $350 for it, maybe $400. Heck I would even give it a great front page write up aswell. The issues with the other designs I saw, like the FPGA build, was that they were going to cost $300+ just for the parts. I will take whatever one I can get that outputs VGA or HDMI, but I would really like to get the Retrozone one since he does such standup work. Everything I have bought from him has been exquisite.

Don't any one take this as me giving a bad review to any Retro Zone products, because I'm not. But recently I had to open up my NES PowerPak (so I could clean the pins) and I wasn't totally impressed. It looks like some of the components were hand soldered and some weren't. The ones that were hand soldered, I wasn't impressed at all with. Not to say, "I'm better than you, every one praise me!" or anything arrogant like that, but maybe since I solder on a professional level now my standards are a little higher. Especially for something I paid good money for. This is not to say the solder job was bad, and that failure might occur. But it didn't look like a professional job.

But oh wow, I didn't realize they cost that much in parts. If it's anything over $100 you can count me out. Even at $100 I might not get one. Since I got the Wega now, I'm perfectly fine with composite out of the NES.

Fair assumption on the innards, your soldering is pro level, mine is far from. But honestly, aslong as it works it is good by me.

While I am fine with composite most of the time, I have a specific setup where I need VGA out of the NES to make it work. Honestly a "toaster" is ideal for it, but I will live with a toploader for now and upgrade to a "toaster" when someone releases it.

Kind of how I feel about Mark III to SMS pin converters, and case design for 2 slot Neo Geo MVS. Types of projects few people dare go near.

The SMS has RGB out of the box which is even better than S-video as well, same deal with the Genesis.

That was mentioned, but RGB is a pain in the ass to most of use here in the USA.

With a SCART to component converter it isn't.

They're either expensive or hit and miss.
