Dark Souls Has Ruined Videogames
Re: Dark Souls Has Ruined Videogames
He hits the biggest part of Dark Souls right at the end: the game is learnable, and the further you get in the game the less you fall for the so called "cheap" deaths, because you've built up your survival skills. You don't know what's around the next corner, but you've learned the proper way to find out. And then you get cocky and decide to just run down the hallway and get murdered. When you res you're not pissed at the game, you're pissed at yourself.

Re: Dark Souls Has Ruined Videogames
Retro gaming has ruined video games would be a more suitable title. But in reality, it's the other way around, casualization has ruined video games. Dark Souls is one of the few modern game like that. But that doesn't mean it's unique. If you insist on playing modern games then fine, heed that warning. Or you could do what many other have realized and stick mainly with retro games and ignore 90% of overhyped, dumbed down modern games.

I am now motivated to beat Demons Souls and properly start Dark Souls.... and finish 3D dot....
Seems like I have lots of gaming cut out for me this summer.

Re: Dark Souls Has Ruined Videogames
Dark Souls went down to 17 dollars on retail on 360 just under a year of its release, I always think about picking it up. I heard it's a bit longer than Demon Souls which is kinda turn off, I think single player games around 10-15 hours is a nice sweet spot for me.
Re: Dark Souls Has Ruined Videogames
Definitely not the right place to be looking for a 10 hour game. More like 50+.
Re: Dark Souls Has Ruined Videogames
I traded my dark souls copy for 3D dot game heroes... i regret nothing.
I can get dark souls anywhere, but dot game heroes was a bit hard to find.

Re: Dark Souls Has Ruined Videogames
I think dark souls would be better for 360 for the simple fact of no invasions by Japanese players. I've never had an honorable duel with a player from Japan before. I ended up getting so mad at this fact that I would play at Japanese time and bow to them then back stab them when they bowed.
Also the private chat would be nice on xbox.

I disagree with this. My first playthrough I think was around 25 hours (with no prior experience with the series). Now if you plan on doing NG+ and everything else, I can definitely see 50+ hours.brunoafh wrote:Definitely not the right place to be looking for a 10 hour game. More like 50+.
Re: Dark Souls Has Ruined Videogames
25 hours with no knowledge of the game? I'm not calling you a liar or anything, but I do find that hard to believe. After I posted that I thought "well... maybe 40ish", but 25 on the first try? You must have sprinted through it and been very lucky with guessing where to go next to progress quickly, not to mention skipped most of the optional stuff. If you did get through it that quickly somehow, kudos, but I can say from experience as I played it at launch with others, that 25 hours was not the normal first run time.
Maybe my gauge isn't as accurate as I think it is, I never did a speedrun with Dark Souls and I spent dozens of hours messing around online and doing completion stuff.
