When my Ouya arrives, I'll probably be using that as my main media center, just because I'm such a big fan of XBMC.

I buy the system just for that i wanted to watch my movies and series on my bed... now i have a laptop for that. The oxbox is now a emulation center for snes and genesis and mame and is awesome.lisalover1 wrote:The oXbox with XBMC still makes for a fantastic media center; better than the 360, and likely still better than the Xbone.Damm64 wrote:Can i pick the gamecube, ps2 and oxbox?
NOw i'm thinking that buying the oxbox was a bad idea because now i going to buy a wii and the wii has a nice scene behind it.

Already have a Wii U. I am pretty sure I will end up with the other 2 as well. The question is will they be day 1 purchases or not?

I probably wont end up with an Xbox One unless they announce a new IP that absolutely sings to me. I don't like Forza as much as Gran Turismo and that was really the only IP that I am sort of interested in on Microsoft's consoles.
I will likely buy a PlayStation 4 if the inFamous game looks good or when they put Gran Turismo on it. That game is basically a system seller for me. I have owned and enjoyed the PlayStation consoles more than any others over my life time, so it's mostly just a matter of when I get it than if I get it.
I have a WiiU already. I only have 4 games for it right now, since I sold off the games I wouldn't be spending time with anymore. I love the system a lot, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to see it be the dominant platform in terms of sales. I like seeing Nintendo succeed.

Older. Not wiser.

PS4 is a winner for me. Xbox console design looks horrible to me. I don't want to pay extra money for a subscription (xbox). I kind of wanted to like the wiiu but I prefer not to use the touch tablet at all.

None of them should, in all honesty, dominate anything remotely related to the media in my family room (don't have a TV in the living room!) The reason why is they're all proprietary systems. And all that's gonna do is give more of our control, as consumers, to someone else.
Right now, outside of building an HTPC, Nintendo has the least intrusive solutions utilizing universal remote like abilities in conjunction with a bunch of watching options. It's not bad. I don't know what Sony is doing, they haven't really talked. But, Xbox One cannot be dominant in this regard going forward because it will radically change what we expect from our media and what the creators expect from us ... and it's re-balancing the relationship all the way over to the publisher side ... for everything. TV, Movies, Games. You will have absolutely no control how you consume anything on this machine. You can merely use the pathways that have been designed for you.
There's a new article where, apparently, Microsoft has filed a patent to use Kinect to enforce licensing agreements on games and movies. The idea in the patent is if too many people are in your living room, more people than are on the movie license ... it will turn the movie off and explain you need to purchase an extended license. There's no confirmation this is being used, there's no denial either, but this is the line of thinking they're going down.
This is a much worse idea, for consumers, than putting some hardware ID on your game disk. So ... I would be wary of the stuff that's going on. I really hope people aren't naive about what these new systems entail. If the Xbox One does stuff like this ... and people buy it and use its services ... it's just setting up precedence for entire industries to move in that direction.
In my opinion, this further reliance, or doubling down, on support from outside parties is the opposite direction of where we need to go in entertainment spaces. It's just a recipe for bad news and having a company like Microsoft being the gate keeper, making the deals with TV execs and Film Studio Heads. This doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

Kinect is pretty damn creepy anyway. I keep that thing unplugged. It makes me paranoid.

Neither of them, I'll stick to what I have thank you very much. Didn't invest any money in this generation and I'm sure as hell not going to spring for anything this gen either.
