If you want to clarify that you're a fan of the original trilogy, that's one thing. Nothing wrong with that. But I have met so many people claiming to be Star Wars fans but all they do is complain and I'm sorry, but you can't say you're a fan of something and then immediately follow that statement with a long rant about everything that's wrong with it. Fandom does not work that way.

Time to link these again. Set aside some time as they aren't short.

^ Joking aside, they did a great job pointing out that the prequels weren't bad Star Wars movies, they were bad movies in general.

Also keep in mind Retrodude is very much "Don't hate something because they make a few changes, that's not how Fandom works" but also posts "The recent Battlestar Galactica shouldn't be called Battlestar Galactica! It's different!"

To me the prequels did not have the soul the original trilogy had. More specifically, the original three felt real. The main issue is that the over use of CGI just makes the world feel plastic. Case in point, lets look at the restaurants featured:
Attack of the Clones:

A New Hope's:

One looks real, one looks fake. And the one that looks more real, will look real forever. I guess that is my main issue with the prequels, they use so few practical special effects. And since they used so few practicals, the world felt more hollow than the originals, and therefore did not convey the same feelings.

Dont get me wrong, for as much as I dog on the prequels, I do enjoy Phantom Menace. I know that it is not the same as the originals, but it is fine on its own right. Episode 2 was just terrible (Lucas has trouble writing a believable love story), 3 was ok. But I was not the primary market for them. My little cousin, who now designs plane engines for Rolls Royce, was the primary market and loves the prequels as much as the originals. He admits that they are a bit cheesy in some parts, but thats ok, they are fun movies. I mean honestly, when Darth Maul is standing there when the door opens and showcases the double bladed lightsaber, you cant tell me that wasnt awesome.

I love the original three movies, have them on VHS.

Yeah that's about how I feel. Saw them at the movies when they came out and really haven't watched them since. I don't hate them but in no way do I ever plan on buying any of the prequel dvds.

Yeah, I know I contradict myself sometimes, but mostly I favor the former opinion ("don't hate something just because it's different"). BSG is one of the rare cases where that line of thinking didn't work for me because I loved the original so much growing up and the new one was so different that it wasn't really the same show. I'm usually pretty open minded about this stuff, though.

We haven't seen so much as a set photo yet, how could someone even have an opinion on it one way or the other, yet?

I'm just at a let's wait and see status. It's not like Disney is terrible at making movies. They could pull this off.

Big Star Wars fan here, im looking forward to what disney has to offer, and will go see the movies despite what anyone thinks.

While i wasnt a huge fan of episodes 1, 2, and 3 (2 being my favorite of those actually) i didnt like the animated stuff for the clone wars, i really wish they would make a live action tv series for Star Wars to compete again Star Trek, i just never understood why there wasnt a live action tv series...

Ill always love the original trilogy, but thats most nostalgia at this point and really cant sit down and watch those movies without getting bored really.\

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has been my favorite Star Wars game next to Super Star Wars on SNES, i dont get all the hype with Battlefront, i had bought the first one when it came out and it was nothing special, havent played the 2nd one.

Republic Commando is kinda over-rated imo.
