Sweet! And thanks for the history lesson too! Did not know. :)

It was to be a sequel, but it's just one in spirit, and it also uses a heavily modified Wolf3D engine, changed over to allow new elements such as panoramic skies, breakable objects, fog, dynamic lighting, and walls reflecting damage. To see it on Unreal Engine is exciting. UE is such a versatile piece of awesome, and even the Splinter Cell series (non-FPS) uses it on all platforms.

I had to include this. Always will be a top genre to me.

They stated that they wanted to make a modern day exploration FPS game. And by the look of it they have. And its gonna have boss battles.

Heh, I wasn't really excited before but I'm kind of interested now. Seems like they're really trying to give it an old FPS feel with all the perks of modern technology.

Bingo. They said they are making an old school fps for the new crowd. BUT they will not be Call of Dutying it. No loadouts, all guns are on the ground. The single player will be like ROTT or Duke3d, with secrets and scores, but the multiplayer will be Quake/UT on crack. They claim that the demos are going well with modern FPS fans.
The Developer wrote:Rise of the Triad fits in because it's an old school PC FPS for old school PC FPS gamers and we're putting it right where they want it, on Steam. However it's also a ridiculously fun, bloody and accessible FPS for newer players. Not only that but it has mod support, mod sharing support, 20+ levels of single player, tons of multiplayer, and it's only $14.99. That should be enough to appeal to old school FPS fans and new school PC gamers alike.

Ah, cool. I don't know why I haven't seen this thread until now.

I love RotT back in the day. I remember some years back I was remembering this game but couldn't for the life of me remember the name. I did remember one cheat code though, FLYBOY. I was able to Google the cheat code and find the game!

I picked up a copy a year or two ago when I got my old Win98 PC up and running, but I wasn't able to get the game running. :(
