With TDSKiller after a 4th scan this one keeps popping up:
Medium risk
Service: IntchdmiAddservice
Type: Kernel Driver (0x1)
Start: Demand (0x3)
File: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\IntcHdmi.sys
Is this the culprit?
EDIT: Deciding on new PC

Re: PC slow as heck, rootkit troubles?... HELP!
You can dust PCs just fine with canned air as long as you hold fans still and resist the urge to have them make siren noises and kill the bearings and don't put the tube too close to anything as the force from a fresh can could actually blow stuff off the board. Just keep it 9-10 inches away as you go near actual electronic bits.

I'll give that a shot if I come out of this.
the IntcHdmi.sys thing sounds like a registry issue, would you guys recommend CCLeaner for that?

that's just a driver for an HDMI port for Intel cards/mobos. It's most likely not your culprit.Xeogred wrote:I'll give that a shot if I come out of this.

Do you have multiple sticks of RAM? Have you tried removing one yet?
Re: PC slow as heck, rootkit troubles?... HELP!
I do, haven't tried that yet though.
It's just weird TDSSkiller keeps finding that file, but also a different forged file every scan.

I've used TDSSKiller plenty of times but haven't seen it pick up different files with each scan like that before. When you scan it, do you select cure and then perform a reboot?Xeogred wrote:I do, haven't tried that yet though.

I've been copying to quarantine, then it cures it. Guessing that should do it? That's the only option I'm seeing. But I haven't rebooted yet.
I guess my PC has 2 x 2GB and 1 x 1GB sticks of ram, I honestly never knew that lol. Looks like it supports up to 8GB.

Re: PC slow as heck, rootkit troubles?... HELP!
I would say try giving it a reboot. It's not certain that this is a hardware issue, if some system files are damaged/hijacked by a bootkit it could certainly lead to very long loading times. If you reboot and it's looking like it'll take a long time again I would say try powering down and removing a stick of RAM and trying to boot again so we can at least eliminate that.
Re: PC slow as heck, rootkit troubles?... HELP!
I cleaned up the registry with CCleaner and everything is running a bit better.
Finally ran Crystal Disk Info though and I got a Caution, running at 51C (which was in red), and then got the BSOD while I clicked on the caution to see if I could get more info...
So yikes, could be hardware in the end? I'll definitely have to dust it out sometime tonight if I can. Is there anything else I could do to maybe salvage the heat on this thing? Without moving it to another case or something... been wanting a new PC for awhile anyways, this might be the final push and I'll never get a slim case again. Trust me when it comes to the PSU, I've searched high and low for upgrades on that and it just seems impossible to find anything for this model, unless someone can tell me otherwise.
I do have my case sitting on a plastic box to keep it off the carpet, is that still a bad idea though? It's been awkward finding a good place for it, there's room on my desk but it'd then be sitting in front of the windows, which could be bad with summer on the way I'm guessing.
That'd be a bit funny I guess if that was the issue all along (assuming nothing is permanently ruined)... hopefully powering it down for a bit will help for now. I do usually leave it running all the time thesedays, figured shutting it down every night was bad, maybe not now? I'm in an apartment now, third story, so yeah I guess heat could be a battle here. There's vents on one side and the back, one fan, and the PSU is a measly 220W on this thing.

The fan was a mess, cleaned out everything, and it didn't seem to do much.
I got another BSOD and was finally able to read the error, something about NO MORE IRP STACK LOCATIONS, googling around it sounds like this is a device/driver issue?
All major checks and virus scans keep coming out fine, memory check was fine...
