Well since the image quality isn't good and the import I'm currently thinking about is a Metal Slug game I may just play them on the PS2.

You probably want a scanline generator.
I'm not sure how PS2 could much improve the look of fixed resolution 2D sprites.

Yeah, about that , I tried having a set up with that in mind before but I couldn't do anything with the budget I had, so I went for just the best connections for these consoles to a HD TV. Hence why we're here. Unless I could just use a SLG SCART for the PS1.
