Video games have the ability to do something that other forms of entertainment can’t, chiefly the ability to be interactive. This may seem obvious, as video games by definition are interactive, but in the light of increased production values and a continuous push towards realism, I’m not surprised this woman was able to so vividly trigger a past trauma.
A movie might have to watch a woman being strangled and escape, but Tomb Raider lets you act it out. And if you fail, you watch Laura die.
