Just buy a Sony WEGA CRT. You will never need anything else again.

I've been thinking about this as I have some light guns for the Saturn that I would like to keep using with a a proper TV. Are there any specific things that I should look out for? These are 2nd hand only now, right?johnny turbo wrote:Just buy a Sony WEGA CRT. You will never need anything else again.

Look for a bright crisp picture with proper color. CRT tv's were built to last. Unless there are obvious signs of abuse it should be easy to find a good one.

HD CRTs won't work with light guns either.Ivo wrote:I've been thinking about this as I have some light guns for the Saturn that I would like to keep using with a a proper TV. WEGAs aren't even the best CRTs Sony made anyway. If you really want the best stuff, look for a PVM or BVM.

May not be the best but they are overwhelmingly common.

BVMs and PVMs might not be too hard to find depending on where you live.
Personally I got tired of tweaking geometry and convergence with CRTs. Outside of arcade cabinets and one I'm pulling out occasionally for light guns, I'm sticking with XRGB and the like.

Are those professional monitors? Not sure it would be easy to find that.AppleQueso wrote: WEGAs aren't even the best CRTs Sony made anyway. If you really want the best stuff, look for a PVM or BVM.

I like the VGA input and I really don't want to worry about convergence and warped images anymore. This has happened to all three of the TVs I've used. Thanks for the suggestions guys; I know the Sony CRTs have a great reputation.
