Yeah, some one sold them a 2600 with a shopping cart full of games. Corey bought it for $75-100 IIRC. I think he over payed. Nothing was boxed or anything. Although they played it for a little bit in a few scenes, I doubt there was anything from Racket's Rare & Valuable 2600 list.

I've seen an Apple II, Virtual Boy, and Atari on Pawn Stars. Plus tons of arcade stuff. They like their video games, especially Chumlee.

I thought his offer was pretty fair. He's right that they could ask whatever they wanted for the Gold cart and probably get it. If he does really want to sell them, I'm sure potential buyers saw the show and will seek him out.

I doubt he actually wants to sell them though. It was likely just a staged thing for Pawn Stars.

I had to search out the episode after reading this thread, caught it and have to say, it looked as staged as anything else on the show. For them to have to "call out the expert" to verify the carts was dumb, I am sure Pat knows more about Nintendo carts than that guy that came out, and we all know that his carts are nothing but legit.

I also doubt that that rip off pawn shop would have given 35k, had it been the owner, it would have gone like:
"So what are you looking to get for these?"
"Well these are so rare blah blah, 35K"
"Mmmmmm.... That aint gonna happen, I gotta make money you know, Im thinking $1500"

Seeing that episode reminded me why I disliked it so much in the first place.

I used to like Pawn Stars when the focus was looking at the history of an item and people. Now the emphasis is on making a buck. Its definitely scripted, the so called expert always asks "What are your concerns?"

The Same Old Routine
1. "I have item for sale."
2. "Let me call an expert."
3. Expert states not quite genuine or excessive wear/restored devaluing item.
4. Pawn Shop justifies with low offer due to overhead costs.
5. Idiot owning item sales for lot lower.

I mean really? I could care less about their overhead costs, not my problem. Let me snap back on how much it cost to get there. Why would anyone make a trip to Vegas just to appear on TV when the item could sale for so much more via CraigsList or Ebay? The dumb sellers should charge them a lot more since the TV shows make a killing in commercials.

I still watch Pawn Stars and American Pickers to see the cool stuff, just disappointed on how both shows have turned into a money grab. American Pickers sometimes come thru by showing the history and great stories of the people they meet. Can you imagine the look on the sellers when they watch the show later on; the rub it in your face made this much money?

Agreed. The things is half the stuff they say they buy, they really don't. These shows allow you to keep your stuff and only show it for TV. All of the prices are als not exactly what is paid. When we filmed for Toy Hunter...prices were set ahead of time and I kept most stuff that will be shown in Season 2. I didnt want to let stuff go for half of what it was worth. I sold a few things, but everything is scripted and what you see is not what happened.

Funny thing about Pawn Stars, the actual shop sucks too.

We dropped in the last time we were in Vegas. I'm not kidding when I say half the store is merchandise based on the show.

Just what I need, a shot glass and a t-shirt with Chumlee's ugly mug printed on them. Oh joy.
