I'm sure NGPC owners will disagree with you. ;)

Killer Instinct and Battle Arena Toshinden are decent on the GB.

There's actually quite a few 2 button fighters that are still enjoyable today.

EDIT: I have heard that the GBA port of Sonic the Hedgehog is atrocious....

It is. It walks like a talk and talks like a duck, but it's no duck.

I like some of the fighters on NGPC more than most 6 button fighters.

King of Fighters R-2 comes to mind.

And most of them are based of of awesome console/PC games. If you're going to make a bad game, don't make it one that reminds people of a better game.

Sonic Blast for Game Gear instantly springs to mind. When I was a kid, I was both a Game Gear owner and Sonic fanatic, so I concentrated on getting ALL the Sonic games for GG. Sonic Blast looked really exciting, the graphics seemed pretty high-end for the system but actually playing the game was unbelievably awkward. And those shiny graphics started to grate on me before long.
I thought the much-maligned Sonic Labyrinth was a better game and Sonic Blast is the only Sonic platformer on Game Gear I haven't beaten..

It's certainly no Sonic Triple Trouble!

I've got 10 games on the Lynx at the moment and none of them are horrible. 3 of them are technically very impressive but kinda dull and 5 are mediocre, but I played the remaining two for a surprisingly long time (Gates of Zendocon and Crystal Mines 2). And unlike with the Neo Geo Pocket Color/Game Gear(*)/Game.com, I can actually see what's happening on the screen with out having the lights on and tilting both my head and the handheld in just the right position. (*) GG works in the dark though
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Two-button fighters can be fun.

Y'all should try some one-button fighters on the C64/Amiga.
