Some times polarity doesn't matter. I can't say anything about the PS2 though, as I've never tried to use a "universal" plug with it before.

why don't you just get a pocket knife and shave off the square end?
You still have to be careful when using any type of plug for the Saturn. on some models, there's no notch, so they just don't fit right and if you move it, the cord comes out.

Thanks fellas. I just wanted to make sure this wasn't "normal" before I order a new one. Maddening... had a spot all mapped out for it in my cabinet and the dang cord didn't even make it to the opening in the back where cords come out!
