There's an arcade in a touristy area out here in San Francisco. To me normally an arcade has slow business or almost none. But this place is always packed with people. They should open up some more. I think if opened in the right area with the right crew and getting the word out that an arcade could make a come back

It's all PSN or XBL now days. I want to put my quarter up and SEE my punk-ass opponents face when I distroy his flow-chart Ken with my Remy.

the newest console I own is a PS2. I don't know if I can get down with these new systems. I enjoy the 8 and 16 bit systems the most. New gaming is too crazy for me, I need some side scrolling platforming shoot em up beat em ups

You could always pick up a Wii... just about every "best wii games" list out there is heavily populated by side scrollers. I'm not talking about Virtual Console or downloadable stuff either. :P

I think Barcade is franchising in the tri-state area now. Not sure about the west cost. I enjoy it a lot minus the hipsters.

There is an arcade back in my hometown but none where I live now which is weird because I live in a much bigger city now! I never played in arcades much, mainly because of money, but I love arcade influenced gaming which is what drew me to Nintendo and SEGA. In my eyes, the pick it up and play aspect of games has slowly been diminishing since the PS2 as the Japanese developers who started in the arcades are no longer dominant.

I havewrote threads about topics like this in the past. Alot of us here on racketboy grew up in the 80's. We all miss those days. I don't have an arcade in my city anymore. I talked about the old pizza palors also and nothing. I think one emulation and roms came into play in 2000 or arcades died and that was that. also online came into play and last gen systems actually beat the arcade power and people wanted gta and halo and mario sunshine than pac man and bubble bobble.

Now that people lost a great thing going to the arcades and simple games they want it back.
I think no I know thats why people grab and buy the old stuff again. 1. Its was fun the games and 2. People have fond memories. Thats why retro is soo big again.
Look at my recent post about my older brother. He's getting a genesis because of joe montana football and nhl 94. He's missing fun simple games. He owns a wii and a ps3 he never mentioned madden 13. Go fig

I agree. Stepping into an arcade is like stepping back in time. Makes me happier than anything

I too miss the the arcades. I was a little late to the 80's game party by being born in 86, but still have the Nintendo that my dad bought the year it was released, along with several other older systems.

The very few 'arcades' that I see now want $1 per play.... Put the games back to 25-50 cents and people will want to come back more. If $5 lasts me an hour, I am much more likely to become a regular rather than $5 lasting 6 minutes would...
