Those MakoPads are garbage IMO
Wouldn't there be enough buttons on most modern controllers to set the face buttons to the C and then all the triggers to everything else you need?
Best Controller for N64 Emulation that isn't..

Did I sell you those? If so... I gave you damn good deals. I know I sold a bunch in the $30-40 range.fastbilly1 wrote:If someone is in Japan, the Hori Minipads are not to expensive. I have five of them because I got them for $30ish a pop with shipping (since we still play N64 games a fair amount in my house).
They were actually pretty hard to find. I only got them because I used to go to various Hard-Offs once or twice every weekday before work and during breaks. I was lucky, in a sense, that I worked all over the place and had a way to get to multiple Hard-Offs in a week. Maybe I would find an average of one Mini-pad a month, which really is not often considering how much I shopped. Outside of lucking out at pawn shops, which I was sort of doing, they almost always cost MORE than $30 in Japan.

What do you dislike about the stock N64 controller?
Re: Best Controller for N64 Emulation that isn't..
Yeah, the GameCube controller works alright for replacing an N64 controller so anything else that generation or later would also work alright.KDub wrote: Wouldn't there be enough buttons on most modern controllers to set the face buttons to the C and then all the triggers to everything else you need?

Use the dualshock, but calibrate it so it has a decent deadzone. That way it will be impossible to make mistakes.

You mentioned the Saturn 3d pad, and honestly I think that would work wonders for n64 games.
A = A
X = B
B = C Down
C = C Right
Y = C Left
Z = C Up
L = Z
R = R
You only lose one button from the 64 (L), and that's hardly ever used anyway.
It wouldn't be perfect, but it seems like it'd be damn close.

I just thought of something i already have that would work almost perfectly for Zelda games.. Wii mote-Nunchcuk! The only thing that would be slightly awkward would be using C on the Nunchcuk for R (raise shelid and menu right).
