Breetai was merely suggesting that TuckettIII should consider real hardware. He said, "I highly recommend not emulating." I believe he's well aware of how difficult it might be to play some games on real hardware, but we're really only talking about Sonic CD here.
Ok, yeah I originally just wanted to PM him, but then I saw Lents post and figured I might as well post it out in the open. Thanks, Im new here so I dont know who are "trolls", or jokers, or whatever. Thanks, I hope he was kidding too.

The first post I made with the link goes to a great site if anyone needs help with major emulators for popular consoles, just so you know. Ive become an expert t osome people by saying stuff or making suggestions from there, so I try to link to it as much as I can so people can learn them selves from it.

I'm sure the link you gave will help the OP with his problem quite well. If he's still reading this, he ought to just find himself a multibios instead of worrying about region-specific ones.

Even when being not so serious, there is usually some useful information held within. Desu ne?
Ziggy wrote:I agree 100%. I always prefer real hardware over emulation. But emulation does have its place. For example, for portability. Maybe you want to use it on a laptop when you're not at home, or a portable device such as the PSP.
See, I don't see that as being a legit option. There is no reason to emulate for portability. You can easily hook up a Sega CDX unit (which is quite portable) to a Turbo Express with the TV Tuner. You can do this all with batteries, so it's totally portable. So, you don't have to compromise your humanity at all. :)

IhatedSega wrote:Ive used emulators to play everything from NEO GEO to Nintendo DS, and overall Im ok with it. I think most emulators are pretty much as good as the actual games on actual hardware, but its just not the same experience. Ive played hundreads of games that I other wise wouldnt have been able to afford to play, and some games that Id NEVER be able to buy because they arent available any other way but through emulation.
Let me drive the point home with an example:

If I can't afford a Ferrari, then I don't get a Ferrari. I don't go an make an illegal copy of it and drive it around. It could cause a traffic accident or a fire. Likewise, if someone can't afford a game like the PCB for Mushi Mushi Pork, or even a cheaper game like Earthbound on the 16-bit Super Nintendo Entertainment System, then the above example with the Ferrari applies perfectly.

If you emulate game systems you don't own, this could be you:

LOL.

DS emulation is great, but im ok with it. I love PS1 and NEO GEO emulation most, and Im glad I can find all the actual good games on Sega consoles now. Nintendo is the easiest to emulate cause of the cartridges being used for so long.

Emulation kicks ass. It's great for hardware/software preservation and the programs themselves are fascinating.

Additionally, without emulation I would have never gotten into retro game collecting. I would have never realized how great the PC Engine was had I not discovered Magic Engine first. Same goes for the NGPC.

Sorry Breetai, I don't have the time or money to track down ancient C64/Amiga/FDS disks (and pray that they work), $200 Saturn games, PAL Terranigma, etc...

How do you feel about MAME? Should we all be buying arcade machines?

I think most of us folks use emulators as a supplement to retro gaming/collecting, not as a substitute.

You don't need to buy an arcade machine. Just get a Supergun. Done!

No arcade machine required to play this NAMCO arcade classic.
