275,900 - Alucard - DC - Stage 4

EDIT: No tech bonuses in this one, first psikyo game i've played w/o them.

There are Gemheads on the first 3 stages but i'm not finding any consistently. Up to 10 green geems and one final blue gem, 14K total can be earned (i think).

Can't pin down the best character for me to use. Liking Aine's bomb, Morrigan's close shot, and Alucard's all-around game.

I do like that the chaining is rewarded much moreso than in Strikers III.

I'd like to join you all some time soon as well. It's been far too long that I've needed to get back to this game...

noiseredux wrote:Shot... I actually didn't think to check if it does anything if you hold it down.

Holding it down does do something. A sort of "Super Shot" I guess it's called, but there's a catch...

Close... ...This seems somehow limited. There must be a gauge or indicator to know if it's re-filled or if you have another Close Attack left.

Yes. The gauge at the bottom of the screen fills as you shoot stuff. It's used for both the Super Shot and Close attack. Here's the gist of it.

The gauge is divided into 6 segments...and 3 levels.

Only the Super Shot can be levels 2 or 3. And it uses the entirety of whatever level the gauge is at.
The Close attack is always level 1 and so always uses only 1 segment of the gauge. So you could use it multiple times depending how full the gauge is. Use wisely.

As for the green Gemhead things, activating them is different for each stage...IIRC, it's usually just hovering over a certain spot...I've long forgotten them all unfortunately.

Played a bit earlier; just broke the 300 thou mark. I keep dying stupidly trying to kill the larger, bullet-spewing enemies quickly w/ the close attack.

So far, I'm liking Hei-Cob, Aine, and Tavia, I think? Morrigan doesn't have enough shot power for my taste.

I like how Tavia's close attack cancels enemy bullets.
But my old save file's scores were with Morrigan or Valpiro.
I have some relearning to do...

Bomb them away!
Use Bombs whenever you can!
Or you'll be sorry!

I hate dying with a full stock of bombs... :x
