Well if it makes you feel any better, this thread has been around for 5 days and hasn't gone past the first page. Maybe the community is finally sick of "list 100 x" threads?

I didn't mind these threads until I tried to search for some game titles on the site. When people repost the growing list of games with each new post, that makes each new post in the thread another search hit for the game title. Just the other day I was trying to search the site for "Sonic Spinball" because I played it for the first time, but I got 100 hits for "Let's name 100 Genesis/Megadrive games!" and it was too big of a pain in the ass to find any discussion about the game, so I just gave up.

And that's the problem. They're just big fucking mostly useless lists. If people were talking about the games it might not be as bad, but still annoying when there are a ton of "Top X blah" thread titles.

I can understand, since we had a pretty decent thread on top SNES/SFC games earlier this year.

I try my best to search out any similar discussions before I (rarely) start any new topics. Of the handful I did, I think only *1* had a duplicate thread. Sadly, this happens here all the time, and I hardly even complain.

SFC threads pop up pretty often, since I've been here. The most common is "Hey guys, I just got a Super Famicom" or "I just broke off the region tabs and want to know what are some good SFC exclusives that don't require knowing how to read Japanese." Which also usually leads to a good list of SFC games that are cheaper than their SNES counterparts and don't require reading Japanese.

I think an article on the main site of this topic would be great. SFC exclusives that don't really require reading Japanese. And maybe a small list of SFC games that are cheaper than their SNES counterparts, but still playable.

That's not a bad idea, considering how popular SFC game threads get around here.

Aye. There's a thread on the first page of "View active topics" right now.

I vote that we make one last SFC thread with two objectives: A list of SFC exclusives that don't requiring reading Japanese, and SFC games that are cheaper than their SNES counterparts but don't really require reading Japanese. But this wont be a simple list your favorite games thread, it'll be better. Whoever creates the thread will be volunteering to keep the first post up to date with new entries. I think I'd volunteer for it, unless any one else wants to. Any one that posts in this thread will be encouraged to post more than just a game title, maybe even required. For exclusives, post the game title with at least general information about the game. Links to YouTube videos of gameplay and/or screen shots shots are a plus. Tell whether the game is already fully in English, or if the important stuff is in English, or no English at all but why you're still able to play for whatever reason. Long story short, all info pertaining to language. For SFC games that have more expensive SNES versions, all information about language must be included as well. We all know that Mother 2 is cheaper than Earthbound, but you wont have much fun playing it, so that's not what we're looking for. I think you get the idea at this point.

Anyways, whoever creates the thread and maintains the first post will keep the list of games up to date. They will also make each game entry a link to the post where it was nominated. So, sort of like a mini review with focus on language. I also wouldn't mind including general information in the first thread about SFC. Like how to play SFC games on a SNES, stuff of that nature.

After the thread is created, any further threads on the mater can be provided a link to the "official" thread and then locked/deleted. If the official thread grows the way I'm imagining it, then perhaps some one can eventually turn it into an article for the main site.

Any one else think this is a good idea, raise your hand. Like I said, I don't mind creating/maintaining the thread. I just wanna know if it's something that'll jive with all of us before I do it.

PS, sorry for the long first paragraph. I was typing this post as other things were going on, wasn't really concentrating hard.

Ha! If I'd come back to this place sooner, I would have been all over those other SNES threads!

I think it's a good idea. I don't see a lot of places online that focus specifically on SFC games (rather than mostly SNES with some SFC games thrown in). I wouldn't mind contributing to a SFC game thread if it was created. I have more than a few games in my collection I'd like to talk about! (The Super Famicom is my favorite system, in case nobody knew... :D )

Yep! As soon as I figured I found out about all the ones worth playing, about ten more recommendations I never heard of before pops up whilst randomly browsing the internet doing something unrelated. Because of this I even have a bookmark folder specifically titled "Super Famicom". Would be great to have a comprehensive list in one place.

Various links of Super Famicom game reviews/recommendations:

and of course there's HardcoreGaming101.net for pretty much every system.

THIS game always intrigued me somewhat though... "Rascal Raccoon": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyBtSnDhtCw
Somehow I'm completely entranced in this raccoon and it's animations as he stacks those blocks together... I can't really tell you why.
