You cleaned the carts too, right?

I'd clean the cart contacts with an alcohol soaked Q-tip.
If that doesn't work use a Q-tip to get some alcohol on cart contacts. Then rapidly put it in (and pull it out) of your N64 unit. Repeat a couple times. This can help clean the system's contacts. This worked to fix a friend's N64 that was having problems similar to yours.

I suggest an electrical contact cleaner, like the ones used to clean cars that have rusty electrical components. They only cost a little bit so I think it's worth it.equalsign wrote:I'd clean the cart contacts with an alcohol soaked Q-tip..

Ok so after doing some cleaning Doom 64 worked by the first switch on!
It also worked again on another switch on! no multiples. No grey screens or crashes.
I am surprised by the results since I didn't do much cleaning and when i did there was hardly any dirt showing, very faint black on a white cloth(compared to cartridges that had something like sugar coating on their pins) .
I also used the method where I applied alcohol on a cartridge pins and and did multiple inserts.
hopefully this issue wont be coming back.
