When i've finished my Unity project (see sig) early next year or so, i'll be open to some commission work. I can get your MVS board working on a power supply (one 12v supply) and also get it working on RGB into a SCART, and also make a casing. Downsides are that postage is very expensive unless whole package including parcel is under 2kg, and also I don't think the USA uses SCART connectors so not sure if your television has that ability?
What type of MVS board is it you have (A-F)?
Realistically, a lot of work needed on the system, you'd be into the £300-£400 range to make it viable (including postage, if under 2kg, more like £400-£500 if over that weight as would need international courier). If no-one else is up for this project, I might be, if that price range is agreeable we can discuss in the next months - if not, no issue - it isn't cheap after all; parts will probably cost me around £20-£40 however labour, probably best part of around 30-50 hours is likely to do the job nice; hence price (if say 40 hours, even minimum wage price is circa £250)- also, on the basis that if the board dies in the process (shouldn't but can happen) then no charge made, but also no compensation for the dead board of yours either. PM if interested, no rush.
Any leads to finding a 2-slot MVS case builder?

Well I don't actually know what material is best. Perhaps it's best if we had material sheets of similar consistency to the AES.t0yrobo wrote:Hey industrial designer here, I see people talking about industrial designy things.
Post some rough ideas or inspiration pics so we can get a better idea of what you're thinking, the clear GB is a good start. Rough dimensions would be handy too, I'm not having much luck finding them myself. Like bac said bending clear plastics can be difficult. It's really easy to make stress cracks, and it can really only be vac formed if it's very thin (like clamshell packaging). So that does place certain limits on the design, but it's not something I'd be to worried about at this point.
I wouldn't trust my soldering iron skill with a neogeo board yet, but I'd be totally willing to lend a hand on designing and/or building a housing. Sounds like a fun project for a id guy without enough work so uh, that's my offer.
Wood would be easiest to obtain and has many tools to work with. Just hard to quite make look/feel like a console (almost all major consoles ever use plastic). Hmm...
Dealing with the cart openings is something I haven't figured out my own way of doing. But again AES did it so there's a way.
Rough dimensions to work around are 18x11x2. We can replace the standoffs with shorter ones. Even a plain rectangular box shape is an improvement.

The MVS board is MV2 family. Two cart slots. For RGB I'll attach an external box. I don't especially need the board consolized right away, nice as it could be, notice I didn't ask for it (or mention it in the opening post).bacteria wrote:When i've finished my Unity project (see sig) early next year or so, i'll be open to some commission work. I'm not sure my patience and quality standards are that high at this point... Getting rather tired of the whole thing.

What about cutting sheet metal to extend SNK's cover? Then we wouldn't have to build a case at all.
