I've only been in one once. It was in Oregon when I went up there for a Five Finger Death Punch concert.

I was a bit disappointed in the classic game selection, but I still came out with a stack of Atari 2600 games for $1 a piece and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night on PS1 for $20. So I had a pleasant experience.

It was also where I got the idea to use 6-pocket trading card page plastics for my Gameboy, GBA, & Neo-Geo Pocket Color collections, as that's what they did.

I've also only been once. But I grabbed a few NES games on the cheap so I was happy and the guy who worked there was really nice.

The one near me closed down. Sucks, 'cause I was in good with the manager there. Got a bunch of good stuff cheap.

Power Stone 2 (DC) - CIB - $15
X-Men vs. SF (PS1) - CIB - $10
NES Deluxe Set - good shape, all manuals, inserts, etc. - $125

TurboGrafx 16/w CD unit, 4 CD games, 12 Hu- Cards, all games retail complete; system with hard-shell case - $90

Suikoden & Suikoden ll (PS1) - CIB - $70.

Since they paid a pittance on trade-ins, they still made a good profit, and he hooked me up with great stuff at awesome prices.

I like Play n' Trade but it'll vary from location to location as they are franchised and staff is so-so like any store.

It's a decent alternative to Game Stop stores which carry just about nothing retro. So its nice to have a store you KNOW is going to have a blend of both. They also have the freedom to carry different items like imports and other random stuff.

So far I get along with all the local guys, they know me. :D

The Play'n Trade 13 miles down the road however... total jerks. Always ignored, or the staff is joking around crudely. I hate going in there and I only check it if my local one is out of something. Prices are ok, but the services kills it for me.
The one you're talking about is a lot more chill and I get along very well with them but I can understand why you don't like the other, its sort of buddy buddy out there, different attitude.

They use a database like gamestop so the prices can vary but they can also adjust prices on their own if something doesn't properly reflect market value.

Hey! I think you were in my area! :D Me and a few other members are the reason the selection sucked.

That's indeed where I was. Went to see Five Finger Death Punch at The Armory. That place was freaking packed! I thought we were gonna pass out from all the body heat in there.

There's a Play N Trade in Rancho Cucamonga that opened up not long ago. I haven't been to it though.

I have been to the one in Pomona once, I think it was either 2 or 3 years ago. Basically a Gamestop in terms of selection but with a bit more N64 stuff, a couple of Dreamcast controllers, and a few other borderline retro items, but that was it.

Yesterday I went to my nearest Play N Trade, and it turns out they've renamed their store to Wizards. It was still the same store inside, though. Even managed to snag some gems like Banjo-Tooie and Soul Blazer.
