I have a 4G slim w/250GB add-on.
I haven't touched the 250 and have well over 3G of the 4G left over.
I don't do anything on XBLA, and I don't really play games w/add-on maps or whatnot.
I have about 25 games for it and beyond the exclusive shooties, the one thing I have loved about it: I've done ZERO updates in 6 months. I've had ZERO installs that lasted more than 10 seconds.
This likely changes if your going online with your stuff, dunno, but I see no need for it for the stuff I play.
I have loved my decision to go 360. I got mine for $150 in trade on neo, came boxed w/add on 250 (as stated), and HD cables. No idea if that was a good price or not, but i'm happy w/it.
Hope that helps.
Anyone want to field some questions about buying a 360?

^yeah that's one thing 360 has going for it. Y'know when you have to update a PS3 game and it takes forever? on 360 it's like a minute tops.

Sounds like a decent deal, but yeah, not going online with it basically saves your hard drive space. So I guess if Flake decided he didn't mind un-patched games (and the bugs that go along with them) he probably will be fine. Most of the patches are for small things anyway.mjmjr25 wrote:I have a 4G slim w/250GB add-on.

Semi-related: Would you or one of the mods update the XBL Gamer Tag thread? Ramatut hasn't posted since March and I don't think he'll get around to updating it any time soon.
Edit: Yeah. PS3 has some serious patching time issues.
Older. Not wiser.

I'll bring this to the other mods, maybe one of them is more active on XBL and wouldn't mind taking over that thread. If not, at minimum one of us can update it.RyaNtheSlayA wrote: Semi-related: Would you or one of the mods update the XBL Gamer Tag thread? i would highly reccomend going online though you don't need to pay for xbla gold pass to just use the store and get updates. and the store has some truly amazing games. dust, shank 2, deathsmiles 2, and tons more. The 360 sorta feels like the dreamcast 2 to me.

I have a 60 GB Jasper model that's set up to where ALL the vents can breathe, and its been perfectly fine. It gets hotter than I'd like, but not nearly as bad as some I've felt.
Personally, I get most of my games on 360 purely because I prefer the controller. It fits my hands well. When I bought it, if multiplats had any differences, the 360 usually got the better deal. So there was that.
Kinect is pretty much useless unless you have a girlfriend/wife who wants it, or have friends over a lot who like dancing games.

Oh yeah, Kinect sucks. Don't bother.

If this year is like previous years, MS will probably put out a holiday bundle in October or so with a couple free games and such.
Currently they have a racing bundle for the same price as the regular 250GB, comes with Forza 4 and a wireless racing wheel, which the box claims is a $110 value (and looking on Amazon reveals to be more of a $60-70 value). Still, great game if you like the genre, or otherwise great bundled things to sell and offset the cost of the system.
Another thing the HDD is required for is playing XBox games. You (apparently) need to have an MS branded drive for that - the 3rd party, much cheaper HDDs on the market are reported as having problems with 'em even if they work fine for 360 titles.
I don't have a ton of space used on my 360 either, but to me it's worth having a HDD in the sense of better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

As I install all of my games to the hard drive to hopefully save my DVD drive, I always keep over 100GB on my hard drive. Each game is between 4 and 8 GB to install to the hard drive, so keep that in mind. I was able to back up all of my saves and XBLA games to a 4GB flash stick a couple of years ago, but I've bought some larger games since then. To me the 4GB "Arcade" model is just a way for Microsoft to make more money on you when you eventually buy the hard drive at a premium.
