I hear that PSG1 works over SMB on a slim PS2. I have no idea why USBAdvance can run it and not OPL over USB. Did you try messing with any game specific settings in OPL?

Yes, but it's difficult to know exactly what is going on. The only game settings are a list of different modes described only by a number. I wasn't about to spend hours trying all the combinations.
