Interesting fact indeed! Great thread. Gamecube menus and saving/loading operations are way faster than ps2 for instance.

I am currently playing Batman Arkham Asylum on 360 and the menus are way slower.

I wonder if others are like me who prefer a faster menu, and does it or does it not change the playing experience of the game?

Slower compared to what? Possible it's partly an aesthetic choice? (I can't remember, and I beat that game on PC anyway). Does it have an optional install?
General point being that there's little reason a modern console can't keep a few hundred kilobytes in memory to pop up a menu instantly, but they might seem slow due to animations.

I think in general it's relative to how often you need to access the menus in the first place, and general functionality.
