The Making Of: Final Fantasy VII
Re: The Making Of: Final Fantasy VII
"Had to be there" I guess, haha yeah. Star Fox blew my world away when it was new.

Re: The Making Of: Final Fantasy VII
Apples and oranges I guess, but Wing Commander 2 from 1991 looks slightly better than Star Fox ('93). Although I guess it's a matter of preference, I do have a soft spot for those "primitive" poly graphics myself
Wing Commander 3 came out a year after, and by 1995 Descent was out, which is totally from another planet compared to those two.
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

I have first seen this game's cover around 1997...
Some way, some how, some where....I will get to play it before I DIE!!!

Maybe because it was in 3D. 3D back then was HUGE, and I mean HUGE. Nothing was 3D. And that your 2D SNES can pull a 3D game....thats the mother of all jaw droppings. I guess thats a bit like N64 playing online(I know there is something like a satellite adaptor that was sold in Japan, but you get the idea). Star Fox 64 graphics is not all that bad, but I remember it being much betterXeogred wrote:"Had to be there" I guess, haha yeah. Star Fox blew my world away when it was new.
You want to get upset, play Mortal Kombat on SNES. When I was younger I thought this is as real as it gets...now it looks like melted pixels hahaha

I didn't really touch FFVII until a few years after it came out (I was an N64 kid), so maybe it was just a matter of not being there.

Re: The Making Of: Final Fantasy VII
Remaking FF7 is just a stupid idea. Maybe doing a remaster is enough (updating the in game models so they don't look like Legos for example, though I remember there was a patch for the PC version that brought the in battle models to the world map, but I have no idea how cut scenes work with those).
But a full remake is going to suck and people will hate it. Why? Answer these questions please:
Random battles, stay or go?
Voice acting, yes or no?
Revive Aeris subquest that many fans were begging for, make it or no?
Battle system, keep the same or use a must more modern and fluent one?
Prerendered backgrounds and game maps, or full 3D worlds?
I mean we can all say which ones we'd prefer, but we all know all these things are important, and the fanbase will eat Square alive for making the different choice than the one each fan would have made.
This game is better left alone, perhaps a biiiiiiiit updated (redraw the backgrounds in higher resolution, but still remain the same, use higher quality models and sound and release it as a remastered edition....oh and new FMVs, cause seriously the originals are pretty bad. FF8 and 9 blue them out of the water.)

I dunno, I didn't either and played it after games like Chrono Cross which were pretty late gen. Even played FFIX directly after FFVII and I never thought much of FFVII's graphics.AppleQueso wrote:I didn't really touch FFVII until a few years after it came out (I was an N64 kid), so maybe it was just a matter of not being there.
Guess they just don't really bother me at all honestly. I even prefer the look of it a bit sometimes, like how the camera angles are way further zoomed out on some maps, as compared to FFVIII and IX which were usually a little closer. Get to see a lot of the cool environments and stuff, lol.

They'll probably remove a bunch of stuff. I remember in an interview someone at Square said they'd remove the entire Don Corneo sequence if they remade the game.ZeroAX wrote:Remaking FF7 is just a stupid idea.

That's crap if you ask me. If you're remaking a game, you should add content, not remove it.
I didn't like, turn away in disgust or anything. I just didn't think the graphics were very good at all.Xeogred wrote:I dunno, I didn't either and played it after games like Chrono Cross which were pretty late gen. Re: The Making Of: Final Fantasy VII
Exactly. That's extreme bullshit. But here's another problem with the idea of a remake: the series has lost its humor. Half of the stuff in FF7 would be considered too "silly" for the HD era (not to mention Keit Sith). I just think that they thought really hard about it and saw how bad an idea it is. I mean square sure loves its money, it would have made this already if it thought it could work.AppleQueso wrote:They'll probably remove a bunch of stuff. Re: The Making Of: Final Fantasy VII
I don't know, I doubt the company that's making a second sequel to Final Fantasy XIII really looked at an idea like "Make an FF7 remake" and decided it would be a bad idea because of those reasons. Knowing Square, they probably don't think it'll sell somehow.ZeroAX wrote: Exactly. That's extreme bullshit. But here's another problem with the idea of a remake: the series has lost its humor.
