Re: noiseredux vs. Dreamcast
fvgazi and mj bring up a good point: I am low spending monies lately. But I'm certainly interested in trading for some CIB Dreamcast games. Even lousy ones. (Also interested in DC accessories, demos, magazines, strategy guides, et al).
Re: noiseredux vs. Dreamcast
So what do you have against the Dreamcast?
Re: noiseredux vs. Dreamcast
Getting the Mad Catz gun for my DC last year was one of the smartest things I could have done. To be able to play HOTD2 and Confidential Mission as they should be played is the best. Now if only I could replicate my good arcade scores
Don't knock on Spawn. I remember the 3-player cab setups and knowing how to access the hidden characters like Dark Ages Spawn and 1-hit killing everyone on the free-for-all mode getting all sorts of free games for winning all the time. I've unlocked all the characters on the DC port and I love cranking up the difficulty to 8 and setting the time limit for 20 minutes and just blowing the crap out of the bots! Admonisher on the Smelter map FTW.

Dood, there are soo many near or arcade perfect titles for DC.
SF lll 3rd Strike, MvC 2, CvSNK 2, SSF ll X; just awesome.
Oh, a relatively cheap but great game is Sword of the Berserk. My only gripe is it's too short, but I got great entertainment out of it.

SF III 3RD strike: Not arcade perfect! (Get RDC's "Arcade Edtion" release for a more arcade acurate port on the dreamcast)Dood, there are soo many near or arcade perfect titles for DC.

MVC2: Yes!
CVS2: Yes!
SSF II X: No, but damn close (if you modify the games engine via the games dip switch menu).
For more arcade accurate Capcom titles on DC
PS1 and 2

JPN release of Project Justice (aka Burn! Justice Academy)

Hey, I did say NEAR. I'm not saying they're without fault.CD AGES wrote:SF III 3RD strike: Not arcade perfect! (Get RDC's "Arcade Edtion" release for a more arcade acurate port on the dreamcast)Dood, there are soo many near or arcade perfect titles for DC.

But as far as simply purchasing a game and playing it. NG and DC are great for arcade ports.
Re: noiseredux vs. Dreamcast
Yes, the Dreamcast still rocks!
I need to fire mine up again sometime soon (I think Armada is in my DC right now, last game I played anyways)
Of the games noise mentioned, I have and have played all of them.
King of Fighters: Evolution was my 1st official KOF game (after my Capcom vs SNK introduction). I really like the feel of KOF '99... very edgy and strikers were a nice touch.
Dead Or Alive 2, I'm not sure if there's a good reason for choosing this port over one of the other 2, other than hardware appreciation.
...But I'll say this much: from my 1st taste of it on the Demo disc that came with my system, I knew I had to have it. It compelled me to seek it out and pay full price for the game weeks before everything started getting marked down and clearanced , and I didn't really feel cheated.
It wasn't the girls either (not just the girls if I'm being honest, as I really like females in my fighters);
the gameplay just seemed so dynamic, over-the-top, and easy to get into. You really feel the impact of each hit.
--->Also, while I suffer from fighter-fanaticism, I play pretty casually, so I never critique it for its weaknesses in competitive play.
Gunbird 2, always a good choice for a Morrigan fan
This shmup always seemed to get mixed reviews, but I've always liked it. I played it to completion once or twice, but I can't remember on what difficulty (I think just under medium).
Concerning the DC controller (which was mentioned in the Dead or Alive 2 review):
That thing actually made me BETTER at fighters!. The D-pad itself is so smooth and comfortable; I was finally able to master all the controller motions that gave me trouble for years before.
I have a Saturn adapter now, so there's no need for me to wrestle with the otherwise awkward (for 2D play) design of the DC one, but I like to defend it anyways.
It's shortness is actually attractive to me, as it's a game I could actually see through the end (on all 3 difficulties).
But yeah, regardless of its length, I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Re: noiseredux vs. Dreamcast
capcom vs snk 2 is probably the greatest fighting game ever made, that game was my teen years haha. I still have that announcers voice burned into my memory "just look at the expressions on their faces!"
