Perhaps Rocksteady should make a Robocop game, I loved what I played of Arkham Asylum, and I heard Arkham City was even better. Perhaps a new kind of side scroller beat em up for PSN/XBLA...

If there is any movie that deserves an awesome video game, it's Robocop.

The best RoboCop game I've ever played was the 1988 arcade game.

Yeah, I read about it in Retro Gamer's "The Unconverted." A real shame it never saw a home release.

Robocop vs. Terminator on Genesis was probably the best one I've played. I never really spent much time on the NES version but I remember it being pretty tough, of course I was like 10 at the time.

Have you ever played Robocop on Xbox (orig)? I hear it's hilariously terrible (if you're into having a romp over the occasional bad game).

As most everyone said Robocop vs. Terminator on the Genesis and the arcade games are your best bet.

There's also the blatant Robocop rip-off ESWAT on the Genesis which is a pretty good Rolling Thunder/Shinobi-style side scroller. I specifically recommend the Genesis one since it's quite a bit better than the original arcade game in my opinion.

And while it's not Robocop at all there's also Crackdown on the 360 if you just want to play a super-powered cop, busting gangs. Good fun. I only mention it because the similar setting and background scratched my own Robocop itch recently.

Even though it's not to great, i kind of enjoyed the first Robocop game on the NES. I liked it better than the second game. can't comment on 3 though.

I played the hell out of the IBM Dos port of the arcade game. Didn't know it was an arcade game at the time, didn't know there was an NES port. I was aware of tandy, amiga, and C64 ports from the screenshots at the back of the box, but I adored the IBM Dos version. Played it on my 8088 in glorious 5-color CGA. Robocop was Cyan. The movie theme song would belch at ear-bleeding tones from the PC speaker. I played it with a generic 2-button joystick.

God that game was awesome, but damn if it didn't have the most frustrating copy protection. Basically, when you installed the game, there was an invisible system file it'd copy off the floppy, and then delete itself off the floppy. The game wouldn't install without that file present on the floppy. Unless you knew it was there and were looking for it, it was effective. I basically lost the game in a harddrive crash because of this copy protection.

Years later, I played the NES port and felt it was vastly inferior, despite looking better. It just wasn't very close to the arcade game, which the IBM Dos port was. Terrific game, I'd love to play it again. I own the arcade PCB these days, but the IBM Dos port will always have a place in my heart.
