MK gold first print release in no way supports a VMU! The re-release disc fixes this issue as well as other major issues which plauge MK Gold ver 1.0

.. Thanks again guys, and I'm going to look into a x4 card too so I can save some other games

If you are going to opt for 4x memory card, I would say perhaps avoid the official SEGA model and go for a 3rd party version that is more reliable like Nyko brand. Not only is the former a bit more expensive, but a few key titles are not compatible with it (ie: Dynamite Cop crashes, Spawn ITDH will not recognize it, and so on). These issues do not occur with most 3rd party 4x memory cards.

Enjoy you DC! :D

You do realize, arcade doesn't just mean fighters? You have to realize Sega is a pioneer in the arcade, and as such multiple arcade classics have since been ported to the dc. Crazy Taxi, Bass/Deep Sea Fishing, etc.

Or that might require it too ?

But what the rest of the thread has said, unless it's a game that is long and involved with numerous stages/checkpoints/whatever or if it's one that is going to have unlockable features, it would just save options and settings so you would not have to go back and reset them every time you started the game up.

Each one holds 200 blocks, so unless you get a lot of games or a sports title that saves an entire season (100 blocks or more), you'll be good to go.

Sega Swirl will save high scores, if you use the Speud VMU tool (available on most DC sites) you can unlock an extra 40 blocks of space on VMU's.

Thanks for the tip! I would have bought an official one because I'm used to official being the best for everything.

I know, fighters just come to mind whenever I hear "arcade". I'm going to get Crazy Taxi whenever I can, I just really wanna play Sonic Adventure 2.

Just to be sure you know, the official 1x has an LCD screen. Some Dreamcast games utilize it for displaying in game statistics and scores. The multi memory block carts are not as reliable and not compatible to certain titles. Another option is use the standard VMU for in game saves and a third party card with USB to backup to a PC hard drive. This allows unlimited save storage and opens up the window for downloading completed game unlock saves online.

Is there an adapter to plug a VMU into a USB plugin so I can save games on my PC?

Some game;s were built for the vmu in mind where you can call plays like football or see your health like resident evil without needing to go into the menu which was quite a nice innovation. Also There are many game's like soul caliber and sonic adventure and Powerstone where you can load mini games onto it and play but really for the most part most games can be played without a VMU cause I have been using a normal massive memory card with tno screen

But there are a few game i have played where it said please put in a VMU also. Actually I noticed consider the smaller amount of blocks you get on a vmu that for rpg's like shenmue which take up of 80plus block or some like record of loddoss war which can go up to 180 it's better to just have a larger memory card.

Personally what I Do is I put a VMU up frond and a massive memory card in back so i can save my larger files but still have the perks of the VMU screen :)

It's nice to see the images and random ways to utilize tha wonderful Card.

Did Sega every make a massive vmu card? I have never seen one

So my Girlfriends younger brother's friends who are say 16 and don't really play retro games nor know much about them were talking baout the dreamcast. One of them said wow the VMU is great and badass And you get to put it in the controller to give it a screen! how the hell did the playstation 2 kill this machine.

this was a proud statement for me since I honestly always not only loved but thought the Dreamcast was a much better and underrate machine despite all the specs and what people say. (Just my opinion so chill out )

Then The other friend not really knowing anything nor thinking before talking says and I quote "Cause once ps2 came out they started putting them in the systems instead so no one cared nor wanted one in the controller" Face Palm. Im like dude they were always for the most part in the systems the innavation was the fact you put it in the controller.

Then he said whatever and went back to playing mw3. So let not anyone be judged ny there age

Soul Calibur offered no mini games to play on the VMU.

Sega only made an official 4x Memory card but no such thing for the VMU. They couldn't even get the former right let alone a VMU with multiple banks of memory.

he might be talking about the chibi character in the vmu doing what the character does on the top screen.

I always thought that was cool.

But We really cant do both at the same time.
