I'm glad you didn't mention that other Capcom game because I don't think the hole where my heart was will ever be filled again.brandman wrote:You will if have to if you want to play great capcom games such as Mega Man Legends 3 and Resident Evil: Revelations.Xeogred wrote:Yup, I'm glad the handhelds are getting a little bigger. Will probably be easier on me. I saw a friends Vita and liked using it a lot, and the DS and 3DS XL's look pretty awesome. So I might have to get some of those eventually.

Re: Whatever happened to these developers?
I am pretty sure the OP knows that companies like Capcom and Konami are still around. I think he's just wanting to know why the heck they aren't making any new RPGs and such anymore. It would be nice if Konami and Capcom would make JRPGs again. I think both of these companies are too preoccupied with trying to be Western game developers and failing miserably at it.
Persona games seem to be still going strong, although I admit I've never played any Shin Megami Tensei games ever. There's even a new 2D-style Persona fighting game now.
As for Game Arts, they released a remake of the first Lunar on the PSP a few years back.
Don't know about Grandia, since I haven't played any after the second one for the Dreamcast.
The GBA was a great excuse for old-school RPGs to be made. The DS and PSP did a good job at keeping things retro for a while. Now that even handheld hardware is becoming so advanced, we won't be seeing as much old-school RPGs, especially with this gimmicky 3D bullcrap being forced on us now with the 3DS.

If by "forced" you mean "optional", then sure.

Re: Whatever happened to these developers?
Well, obviously I haven't played much of the 3DS. Yes, I am aware that you can turn off the 3D view, but games must be programmed for 3D use. That pretty much eliminates sprite-based games, right?WallCrusher wrote:If by "forced" you mean "optional", then sure.
Re: Whatever happened to these developers?
No, games aren't required to use the 3D. It's like how every game on the Wii was required to use motion controls. Except for the ones that didn't.greg wrote:Well, obviously I haven't played much of the 3DS. Yes, I am aware that you can turn off the 3D view, but games must be programmed for 3D use. There are sprite-based games, at least on 3DSWare right now. For example there is Mutant Mudds, a 2D platformer that uses 3D.greg wrote:Well, obviously I haven't played much of the 3DS. Dont forget Konami is releasing 2 new Castlevania's, one for the 3DS and another for the PS360.

Re: Whatever happened to these developers?
If Capcom chooses to continue to release games like Dragon's Dogma instead of further installments in the Breath of Fire series, I've got no complaints!
Re: Whatever happened to these developers?
Ugh, is that Mirror of Fate - Lords of Shadow related? If it's not 2D count me out.
Re: Whatever happened to these developers?
It's a Metroidvania in the Lords of Shadow continuity. I believe it's 2.5D like Dracula X Chronicles. Since it's not the main continuity you can count me out (give us Castlevania 1999 dammit!)Xeogred wrote:Ugh, is that Mirror of Fate - Lords of Shadow related? If it's not 2D count me out.
