They're probably gonna squashs the W-item bug, no?

But I like having the option of playing FFVII on a newer computer.

They should do it for FFVIII as well. The Chocobo World Pocketstation thingie meant that I would always play the PC version over the PlayStation. I don't know how things were sorted out with the newer releases on PSN.

Maybe they'll add FFXIII quality FMVs or something. :P Even still, I probably will not be buying it for any more than $5.

Yeah, I think I'll pass this one up. I've still got my PS1 version that still works good and even if that fails I can get the Playstation Store version. Plus, since my PC is a laptop and playing games on it isn't that easy I think I'll skip this.

I can run Diablo 3 on low settings just fine on my laptop. Even with an ultra-low voltage processor (1.7 GHz i5) and a 30% underclocked HD4000 (crappy integrated graphics). FFVII will not be a problem.

Playing games on a laptop is quite easy. Especially ones that are well over a decade old. ..Assuming it'll run on Win7 or whatever OS you are using. The FFVIII PC game has been patched for Win7 use. Runs great. :) I have to assume that the original FFVII PC game has been patched to run on Win7 as well.

As much as i hate to promote how compatible this game is or WAS... i have the original boxed version of this game for the PC and it ran on a Pentium 2 266Mhz, 128mb RAM, Voodoo Banshee 3DFX 16mb, 8GB HDD /w Windows 98.

Obviously i dont know how what they are changing about the re-release, but im guessing it wont run on Windows 98, but i dont see why everything else wouldnt be compatible still, unless they boost the minimum specs to something a little more standard.

are you serious? had absolutely no idea, thanks for shedding the light

This isn't necessary at all. Erik answered honestly to clarify for anyone not familiar.

I consider myself a HUGE FF fan but spending real cash in a FF game that is NOT an MMORPG? No thanks

I do like the fact that more ppl now will get an opportunity to enjoy the game though.

I will probably get this. I have avoided replaying FFVII because I cant skip summon cutscreens. If I could do it in the PC version, then I would be tempted to get it. I definitely wont be buying any upgrades.

The summons aren't really that good until you get to KotR. Since each summon has limited casts (1-5 depending on AP) you'll find that early on each summon is a one shot skill that does better damage than magic, but not overly so. Even Bahamut ZERO caps out at 9999 damage (and has an egregiously long animation), so you'd be better off casting Ultima. KotR is the exception, as it does 13 hits of high damage shots, so you usually only need a single casting. If you need multiple you can get around the cast number restrictions by just Miming. You should only need one or two more if it's not one of the weapons.

So if you want to skip the long animations you're better off using magic and weapon attacks. In my current playthrough I haven't used summons at all; I've found through properly equipping a physical fighter, a mage, and an enemy skill/command user I can get through things just as fast, if not faster, than my old playthroughs of loading everyone down with as much materia as I find.
