Have you considered just doing the binder method?

You can use those trading card holder pages, or if you can find some, certain coin holder type pages, to hold the games in. You'll need a pretty thick binder, but i'm sure it'd make it easier to find stuff.

I also find it amusing how you have like 10 billion NES and SNES games but not even 30 for the Genesis.

Yeah the issue I have with those binders is that it doesn't really display the games... and I like to displaying things. Here's my plans for the shelf I want to build. It's not to scale, just a rough idea:



It would have tabs for each letter, thus making it a bit easier to find which game is which. I built that shelf that holds all my N64 games, so I figure it would be fun to build this one as well.

Yeah the very top Gamecube games are tough to reach, luckly I have a small step stool in that room. I figure I should be about done with my Gamecube set by the end of the year, but I'll run out of room for Gamecube long before that. I think I'll buy a whole new shelf to display all my Gamecube games. Changes things up a bit, so I can hold more NES and SNES games where the gamecube games are now.

I've been keeping my games since I was a kid... only had a dozen or so NES, a few SNES, a dozen N64 and a couple dozen Gamecube. So actively collecting, not that long, about two years. That said, I don't think I've spent a ton of money or anything. Vast majority of games I bought for under $2-$3. Sometimes I find good deals on games which I end up selling for more... that kind of thing.

As for the Sega games, yeah I try to keep my gaming habit to Nintendo. Don't get me wrong, I love Sega and other systems, but I don't have room to go nuts for those other systems. My critera for Non-Nintendo games is that it has to be exclusive for the system and fun to play. I probably have about 30 CIB Sega Gen games in my closet but they don't fit my critera so I'm just going to sell them off. Same with Playstation. So yeah with Nintendo it started off as wanting to go for a complete set of NES, SNES and N64. Then it started to include Gamecube. Now it also includes GB, GBC and maybe GBA. After that I think I'm done... ha ha.

Cool stuff. I couldn't imagine amassing a collection like that in just two years. I guess it probably helps if you have a nice focus, though.

There's other avenues you can still hit up though and keep your collection Nintendo focused. A complete set of Game and Watches perhaps? Or maybe start collecting Nintendo Power issues covering until before the launch of the Wii or so?

Please, before you make shelving for the GB carts make some to display the N64s. It saddens me to see them piled up

I can envisage them with the relevent controller next to them with some lighting at the rear to really set them off

Ahh... yes. I'm with you there. I've had a few different ideas for N64 shelves. So I agree with you, I hate stacking them and that should be fixed sooner then later. Nice idea on lighting... I may have to figure out how to add that.

im sure a couple of those N64s are UV reactive so if you set it up with a blacklight they would glow quite a bit. pretty sweet idea actually
