But really, PC people don't do split screen really. If gathering in the same place to play, it's all about LAN parties.
Are There Any Split Screen MP games on PC?

When did that happen? I still go to lan parties and play Steam games. Just remember to set your account to offline mode before you leave for it.Pulsar_t wrote:That used to be the case before Steam et al ruined the party (heh)
Split Screen PC games are rarer now than they use to be. But as stated, L4D2 supports it through a console command, and Serious Sams support it natively. Also:
- Renegade Ops when the two players are far from each other, otherwise it is one screen.
- Blur - Four player splitscreen
- Sonic Racing - Four player splitscreen
- Split/Second - Two player splitscreen
- Terminator Salvation - Two player splitscreen
There are more that can be splitscreen through a patch or mod - like Portal 2, but I do not have a comprehensive list.

When I go to TF2 LAN parties we have no issue being on Steam all at the same time.fastbilly1 wrote:When did that happen? I still go to lan parties and play Steam games. If I recall right the PC port of Virtual-On is split screen. One of the issues with doing split screen is that keyboards tend to not be able to handle more than 3 inputs at the same time (not to mention that they tend to be awkward to use two people on it at the same time). So now you have to have people with multiple input devices, and it quickly becomes a matter of "not worth the time it takes to program split screen".
I know of a few PC games that aren't split screen but are simultaneous multiplayer on the same machine. The Super Melee mode of Star Control 2 lets you play someone using the same keyboard (view is always a window that encompasses both ships) and NHL 98 lets you have two people playing at the same time with one on the keyboard and one on the mouse (only need two buttons); it uses an offscreen indicator for people who aren't near the puck.
