Obviously AAA stuff has moved on, but there's no reason we can't get some smaller teams making cool and quirky games for the thing over the next few years. It's still a good machine, and with the install base, it's a great place to take some chances -- even now.
I'd hate to see it go all Hannah Montana by the end of 2008...
I was looking at the release list and only two things seem to interest me, and both hit this month, hopefully.
KOF XI, which the KOF community have praised for being the most drastic change in the series, and being the best since '98. Problem is, despite it being out in Japan and Europe for eons now, it has been getting incremental delays right when launch draws near. I also asked a gamestop employee what was up with that and he literally could not find it in the charts. Either he was incompetent, (and conversations I overheard him having that day made him seem like the only employee who's not a retard there), or they got word that the game is canceled. I'll just dl the PAL version if that's the case.
Dragon Ball Z Tenkaichi Budokai 3. Despite what some lamers would have you to believe, solely for the sake of having one more franchise they can laugh at, Dragon Ball games are not all shit. Yes, I happened to be a huge DB fan up until it became a screaming sensation in the states, (which was remarkable because the english version of the show vastly inferior), I truly believe that some of these games could appeal to non-fans. The original Budokai 3 was fantastic, and I spent 40 hours or so unlocking everything. It looked great, it sounded great, the music was perfect, and it played well enough to be compared to other light, party fighters like Project Justice. For those who don't know, there were 3 Budokai games, and this will now be the third Tenkaichi Budokai game, these three being by a different company. If previous reviews are any indication, along with the previews for this third game, it should be an epic package, and the last great PS2 game, but I hope not.
But hell, I just bought MGS3 Subsistence, and both Gow of Wars, brand new, so I'm going to be busy for a while.
