Having "reported issues" of a glitch in some early models is a far cry from warning people to stay away from the brand due to "high failure rate."Quality: Not bad overall, the stick body is nice and sturdy. The Joystick and buttons are clones of Sanwa Parts so actual Sanwa parts are perfect drop in replacements. Earlier releases of the SFIV SE stick have reported issues with the PCB or Printed Circuit board.
Reliability: Except for the above mentioned PCB this stick is not bad. Perfect for a low cost beginner stick.

Re: Good arcade stick to get
I agree that Hori is a better brand than MadCatz, and it turns out the OP does have a budget beyond sticking to MadCatz anyway. I'm just saying that "high failure rate" might be misinformation you're spreading. In fact the link you posted says this about the MC sticks:
Re: Good arcade stick to get
Read about ALL of the MadCatz sticks compared to other brands. Again, I am not saying MadCatz is terrible, but they definitely have more QC issues than other brands. Something to be aware of. Even their tournament level sticks.

Same build as the Madcatz PS3 and 360 sticks. Literally, same build, parts and layout.Godot102 wrote:How is the TVC stick? I may pick that up considering that its extremely cheap now. Ill mod it too. As for the 360 stick I wanna say Ill pay up to ~$130 (ik its a fairly low price range) but If the stick is easily moddable I may just swap the parts out.
For 360, you should be able to get any stick you want, save the VLX and the custom LE character sticks.
If your comfortable swapping sticks and buttons, i'd get the madcatz:
- usually about $50 on the forums, or less on ebay if your sly. Could mod it w/whatever you want for another $50.
If you like the larger casings, then i'd grab the cheapest of the larger sticks and do the $50 updgrade:
HORI / Madcatz made a few larger sticks that go for $100-130 (cheaper on ebay with patience) that you could mod, again, for $50...though honestly, all these current gen sticks are pretty decent stock.
If you want a great stick, don't want to mod, the above stick by HORI, the V3 is very nice. Though i'd splurge and get the VLX.
- $250-275 on the forums, $299 new at a few online stores.

Re: Good arcade stick to get
for the 360 I recommend the Hori EX-SE. mine is still stock and it's still great

the TvC stick is also great when modded. mine has a JLF and seimitsu/sanwa buttons

Re: Good arcade stick to get
Thanks for all of the advice. What are some good sites to get buttons/sticks? I think I am going to mod one over the summer.

That's who i've used recently. There are a few places stateside, but the shipping isn't that much of a difference really. Lizardlick.com and Arcadecontrols.com are reputable, but nobody beats Akishop's overall selection.

I know VideogamesNewYork has arcade parts, but I can't comment on how their pricing and selection compare to others. They are however an authorized dealer for QanBa.

I remember seeing arcade parts at VideogamesNewYork last time I was in the city but I never checked the prices. Ill probably head over there a couple more times during the summerZenErik wrote:I know VideogamesNewYork has arcade parts, but I can't comment on how their pricing and selection compare to others. Sweet. Yea! Check out the QanBa sticks too. Even if you don't want one. I recommend just asking to see one just to get a feel for them. They look great. Have a great feel. Nice hefty weight. Felt bottom. Will not slide on your lap if you use them that way. Handle.Godot102 wrote:I remember seeing arcade parts at VideogamesNewYork last time I was in the city but I never checked the prices. But the Hori VLX looks amazing too. If they worked with both PS3 and 360 I would probably get those.
