Correct. Apparently, if you beat them, it's instant K.O.

Ok.

Suiciding your captured enemies is good.

It can act as a "bomb shield" if yr about to die.

But more importantly, for scoring, it will chain bomb anything in the area and can extend the entire screen, provided there is an enemy ship in its explosion range.

Also - these grey balls? I've gotten one worth 32,000 and one worth 50. Literally 50. What determines their value?

Huh. That's neat. I'll have to try it. I saw the gray ones also, but wasn't sure of what they did. So just bonus points, I guess.

Yeah, that "enemy groups" point thing is a common theme in Darius

If the grey point items are like Gaiden, then it is based on where in the circle of movement its making it is.

In Gaiden, I think 3 o'clock is 52k points. Trying to figure it out myself, let me know if you fid out anything more.

1,877,360 - mjmjr25 - Stage 2 Boss - Silver Sword? - PSX

Dayum! That 2nd boss was rough!! Had a solid run I thought, somehow navigated that 2nd area where it tilts you at an angle and made boss fully intact (3 lives, all color systems loaded up)...he wiped me FASTTTTT.

Really enjoying this game this time around.

Capturing the bigger enemies is a catch 22, they are more powerful but slow you down too. Stage 2 I grabbed an enemy I didn't think it would let me grab - he turned into a rotating force field - I liked him.

At dunp - maybe it was 52K on that grey ball - it was nuts, one run huge points, next run 50. Love shit like that.

Yeah, after I shot off the 2nd boss' head, he went all crazy and started shooting sonic boom-like projectiles and random bullets; plus he was shielded.

What the hell!?

2,433,350 - mjmjr25 - Stage 2 Boss - Golden Duck - PSX

Really enjoying this game. I'm sorta surprised at how much i'm itching to play it.

Has anyone else discovered you can grab the big mean looking fish (mid-boss if you will). He slows you down a bit, but he's uber powerful. In particular - if you use your laser (on a boss usually) he joins up behind you and your laser power doubles! I killed the first boss in like 7 seconds - I had a mighty grin after that.

The only caveat is that you lose the 30K to kill him on stage 1 and on stage 2 he's worth 40K...

I haven't played since the other day, but have you figured out what to do about the shield?

Nice score.

To others playing - does the ship seem to be hard to control at times, like clunky and slow to respond, or responds too far?

I think sometimes it is the nature of the game when capturing a larger enemy, but it is certainly throughout - particularly on bosses, i'll go one direction, stop and try to go back, but it continues the original direction a hair too long and I die.

I am wondering if everyone is experiencing this or if possibly it is a hiccup in playing the psx version on my ps3?

@Fox - I'm not sure which shield yr referring to? You may have to get to the other side of the boss to do damage? Both 2nd bosses, the large grasshopper thing and the black fish, you need to circle to the other side mid-way through.

On a side note as I learn more about this game, in addition to suiciding your captured enemies to triple a combo, you can instantly turn them into your laser shot and get x4 on yr combo. Just be sure to have a captured enemy when you meet up w/the boss.
