i have been playing xenoblade chronicles its very fun, i guess im just looking for a game that has similar ui and questing as wow but on a console and you dont have to go online

Re: console games like world of warcraft.
Kinda-sorta. As I understand, 38 Studios was originally developing it entirely as an MMO, but when the developer was acquired by Big Huge Games the project was morphed into the single player game that was released with the MMO becoming a second project. I don't doubt that their business strategy from 2009 on is basically as you said, but what I've read indicates that it was not the plan from the very beginning.sabrage wrote:I thought it was intended to be a stepping stone to a later MMO in the same universe all along?isiolia wrote:Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was originally intended to me an MMO, so it might be another consideration.

All you have to do is make a PS3 and Xbox 360 compatible mouse and keyboard and you'll get over the control problem, but can PS3 or Xbox 360 handle a game of this caliber? There can hundreds of players on the same screen, 40 player raids and so on. And on PC you can modify your game. Addons, change the display options to optimize FPS etc.Lorfarius wrote:I seem to recall a rumour of WoW appearing on the 360 and PS3 at some point.

Re: console games like world of warcraft.
I've seen rumors floating about that given the touchscreen on the Wii U's controller, developers are starting to think seriously about MMOs for it. Now, those are just rumors that they're starting to consider it, so I'm NOT saying "OMG, WOW CUNFURMD 4 WIIU!!!1!!1" or anything. I just think the controller would be perfect for MMOs (hotkeys, for example) and figured that seemed relevant to this thread.

I don't think the Wii U would be providing too much that isn't already available, since you can just plug in a USB keyboard to the PS2, PS3, or 360. Plus there are keypads for the PS3/360, etc. Hotkeys are somewhat dependent on the game. While the touchscreen might be easier to count on, and probably easier to grasp for some, input isn't that great a hurdle. Things like monthly fees - both in terms of how to collect them, and how to convince players they're worth paying - are probably the larger issues.ElkinFencer10 wrote:I've seen rumors floating about that given the touchscreen on the Wii U's controller, developers are starting to think seriously about MMOs for it. IMO, the next generation will see more MMOs, but not really due to input devices. More that I think there will be a lot more movement in bringing F2P titles to them, many of which are MMOs. The model wasn't common while the current generation was in development, but has become much more so over the life of them.

Is the Wii-U's screen going to be good enough for that sort of control? I've been reading talk of it being single touch, cheaper tech etc.
Re: console games like world of warcraft.
I'm sure it'd be good enough for an on-screen keyboard, or a palette of buttons customized to the task/class/etc at hand. It also basically has a classic controller integrated for movement, camera, and so on.Lorfarius wrote:Is the Wii-U's screen going to be good enough for that sort of control? It's apparently quite meh in terms of actual tech, and would likely prove less effective for high level play, but I could see it being easier for new players (IE, touch the button that says "heal" then touch the party member's HP bar that's low).
