I thought that having the variety would be great, but it was stopping me from really enjoying the games.
I think quite many collectors have this dilemma, I know I do. If you just want to play games and you dont care about materialism, a decent gaming PC and/or modern gen consoles, a bunch of USB controllers and some emulators and youre all set to play 99,8% of games ever released

. I used to play through retro games from start to finish one at a time on different emulators, but once I started actually collecting physical copies of those games, I rarely play them for more than for 15-20 minutes. Just to check out that the game works and see what its like, after that I go back to the computer and start looking for more retro games that I should buy

Or I might play couple of games at a time few hours a day, but then I loose my intrest or get some new games and I never finish the ones I have started. And its hard to choose what to play when you actually feel like playing when you have 150 unfinished games waiting to be played.
I initially started playing older games so I would know more about video games by playing through all the essential classics that every one who is really into gaming should play. Maybe I should go back to emulators

Its a lot cheaper and less stressfull (insurance, space, detoriation, watching over auctions etc..) and I would have money to actually buy some new games every now and then
Its not nice to spend thousands/tens of thousands to a collection and stress every day about scratching your games, bugs eating your magazines/boxes etc and then have it all destroyed by a natural disaster like this guy
